Drew Brees shares update

Note: Tony Romo suffered broken ribs and a collapsed lung in 2011 and played 8 days later. Just saying.

Drew Brees out at least two weeks after second opinion on injury

I'd put my money on his missing no more than two weeks ... if that. Also note that if the Saints do not place him on IR they would feel less than three weeks was possible, as well.

I've been wondering if they will put him on IR even if he needs it. Why not make teams prepare for Drew and Winston? Keep them busy and worried preparing for two different scenarios.

That’s good to hear AG been digging into that all morning. He knows his body

Brees looks like he is in extreme pain ... NOT!

Re: Drew Brees shares update

Regardless of what happens next, I just want to say that I think we have been truly blessed being able to say Brees is our QB for the last 14/15 years.

I've never seen someone work harder to be out there for his team and literally give his heart and soul every gameday. He's played through so many injuries, probably a ton we weren't even aware of.

Brees has had to endure some horrendous years with the worst defenses in NFL history on more than 3 occasions, yet he never threw anyone under the bus, it was "what can I do better" every time, even when he was near perfect most gamedays.

I love the idea of being able to take deep shots in this offense, but Brees is the main reason we are even relevant at this point and I wouldn't trade that for the world. Model of consistency year to year.

This team owes him a Lombardi or 3 for everything he's done.

Romo wasn't 40+ years old either.

Not smart IMHO. If he comes back before the injury is completely healed, gets reinjured and is out for the playoffs, that's a catastropic situation. Take 4 weeks off, heal completely, and come back for the KC game at home.

I'm not sure IR matters. Thomas' injury ended up being a lot longer and the team never put him on IR.

No, but we aren't talking EIGHT days either. My point was that this is not that serious a combination of injuries. The "end of his reign" rhetoric is unwarranted. The point is that he isn't going to be gone for an extended period. Or, at least for those that want a chance at another Lombardi wish, longer than necessary.

But, do not forget that Brees recovered from that UCL (thumb) injury last season in a shorter period of time than athletes almost half his age.

+1. Deuce/Ellias Williams mentioned that on Thomas as they don't really believe he is 100% healthy either.

No need to rush Brees back. There is entirely too much football left to be played. The duo of JW and Hill are more than capable of winning 2, maybe even 3 of the upcoming games.

2 weeks with a Brady bye week week 13 gives Brees a chance to not let Brady run away with the record.

The next four weeks is Falcons, Broncos, Falcons, Eagles. I hope that he'll be ready for the Eagles.

Then the Saints play the Chiefs, Vikings, Panthers.

Most importantly I hope tha Ruiz is living at the Saints facility learning.

Or you could chill the fu*k out on the collapsed lung like you told me to when all I did was state what was in the report.... once.

I don't believe I ever told you to chill the "fu*k" out.

How much we win and how much the Bucs lose (ummm, go Rams?) will obviously play a role on how conservative we get to be in bringing Brees back.

I broke a rib and sternum last year. It took a good month just for the pain to subside. And I had to sleep in a lounge chair for three weeks, it was so painful to just simply get up from the chair.

If Drew comes back in a couple of weeks, he's getting some new tech medical assistance. Maybe he is. But I doubt it. Let him completely heal, about 4 to 6 weeks.

Yeah, but you're older than Drew!:D

A quick bit of research research shows that pain from a broken sternum is very debilitating and can last for months. Rib pain is apparently not as severe and can easily be relieved by injections. Bet that was a ***** living with. Sounds difficult. It said that just using your arms brings on severe pain. Argh.

And, yes, you can expect Brees would have access to a hyperbaric chamber and bone stimulators and such that our insurance doesn't cover.

Oh, and don't forget, Brees was already playing with broken ribs coming into the 49er's game.

The problem with injections when you are dealing with a rib issue is that it can relieve pain to the point you can’t feel it if it gets worse which could result in another punctured lung. Since he was playing with broken ribs he sustained in Tampa I wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t what happened.
I’ve broken several ribs on several occasions and it sucks big time. You can’t take a **** without severe pain and since pain medicine stops you up it’s a no win situation.

The rib injury from the Tampa game was all on the left side. The 49er's injury was all on the right side. They were unrelated. Just bad luck.
