Today is a look a the future

I think Taysom is our future starting QB, will ball today, and he's just going to make it look simple. The guy has it imo. People keep writing him off, but his Madden rating for QB is going up 15 points today at the very least. With the way our offense is built, if he can put the ball in receivers hands and avoid the INTs, he is the perfect guy for our offense. He can be active in running attack(faking runs and throwing or just simply plowing through defenses) with Kamara and really make our offense dynamic. I believe he can make good decisions and throw the football at the level that we need him now and will only get better with time(and that's really the only question mark when it comes to his game: "Can he be an effective passer?".) The only negative is our receivers are going to have to ice their hands after games because they aren't used to that kind of throwing velocity.

I don't know how Taysom will look, I'm hoping for a decent, manage the game performance.

If, somehow we win, I'm not going to let the Falcons live it down lol

I hope it's kind of a mixture between him managing the game and Payton giving him some leeway in doing some Taysom thing. I think Patyon gets bored sometimes lol. I have a feeling we'll see some interesting stuff today just to satisfy his curiosity/intellect.

I think the question as to where he is most effective will be answered today. He does so many things for the team but if he is the QB now and for the future then he will have to protect his body and not take those shots. After all, he is 30 with a history of injuries...he has to protect that shoulder.

I don’t know man... I’m already drinking getting ready for this wild ride.

I think this will be his audition for his future....if successful as a field leader, then he has a future as QB, if he struggles then he’s probably gonna be relegated to the role he’s currently in. A toy for coach P. My two cents is we probably should have gone with Winston, but hopefully I’m wrong.

Taysom isn't the "future" at QB in New Orleans.

And I'm a huge TH fan.

This is probably the most excited I've been for a game this year(runs neck and neck with the TB game). I've got two cigars ready to light up and a bottle of scotch. I've cut up a beef tenderloin and going to make some filet mignons.

If we can get 8-9 years of high level football out of him, that qualifies him as the future imo. Was Steve Young the future of the 49ers after Montana? If you don't think Taysom has the right skills to be a QB in the NFL or for this team, that's fine. He has plenty of time to make his mark on this league though. The time argument is a bad one.

What’s the over/under on the number of Taysom Hill threads after the game.

Well, I thought he looked totally in control of the offense today.

SARCASM Do a little research on how "First Year" QB'S have done against the Saints. Perhaps you'll understand my comment.

If Taysom's salary is the highest for the QB's on next years roster, the Saints can keep the roster largely in tact. I think Siemian could be an effective backup next year. A very underrated, under the radar type signing.

vpheughan 11-23-2020 09:18 AM

Re: Today is a look a the future

Ask Mike McCarthy if he regrets cutting Hill! Payton picking him up was "Under The Radar". Trevor Siemian was a former starter, the whole league knew who he is and was available. Of course at 28 he may be to "OLD"

Re: Today is a look a the future

Hill looked good, looked this way the last preseason we had.

Will be interesting to see how he progresses week to week. Someone here mentioned that it'll be interesting to see his development verses teams getting game film on him. ATL had no clue what was going to hit them, and to be honest they did okay. His running was limited for the most part (most yards coming on the fumble run). Fun to watch!

Keep in mind he can likely only play this way for another 4-5 years. He plays a rough type of QB, hopefully he gets smart about sliding and getting out of bounds.

Re: Today is a look a the future

For Hill to be a full time starter, he'll need to learn one key thing... How to slide. His college career was marred by injuries. The same will hold true if he continues to run the way he does in the NFL.
