Always the optimist! Brees has a couple of more in him. :p

Doubt he finishes the season.

Had we started Jameis from the get go, we'd at least have a chance to go 7-9 this season.

Great arm. Slightly better decision maker than Winston. Not worth the salary.

Re: USA Today Saints Wire | The Athletic suggests Saints as a prime Matthew Stafford trade destination

It’s really interesting watching the Pats go through what the Saints will/are going through in replacing a HOF QB. Obvious parallels, but them having the titles makes the fans here take it for granted and just expecting the next guy to be good (also Jimmy G and Castle filled in well when Brady was hurt). Plus, they are all Bucs fans now, so they are in a state of denial so to speak. I saw the same things post Montana/Young when I was in the Bay Area.

It's not beyond possibility for Stafford to come to the Saints in a trade.
I also think Brees will play out his contract, meaning he'll start next season.

Yeah, Not that it is his main goal(s), but I think Drew REALLY doesn’t want Brady to break any of his records. I’d be surprised if Brees retires while the “🐐” is still around.

Re: The Athletic suggests Saints as a prime Matthew Stafford trade destination

I do think with the offensive weapons under contract and the general state of o-line, D etc that the Saints are in MUCH better shape to continue AB (After Brees) then the pats AB are.

So, I’ve not posted a lot here, but why would you think this? Are you hoping he doesn’t? Would you care to place odds and money on Brees not “finishing” the season?

LOL!!

I've won money from The Dude before on his ludicrous negative claims concerning the Saints. He is one of a small clan here that always expect the worst. You'll soon discover the others. It is glaringly obvious.

My philosophy of life has always been to look for the best. It has served me very well over the many decades.

My pop, (God bless) is closer to 90 than 80 and, as far as the Saints goes, always looks at the the things they didn’t do right as opposed to the things they do. He mourns more about the titles lost than the one title won. Ask Atlanta how that feels.

Sorry to be philosophical everyone. I’m slightly drunk right now. I put more wine into myself than I did the Chicken Marsala I was making.

The kid can really chuck the ball no doubt, been drowning on a bad team for years. At 32 are his best years behind him is the question.
Can the Saints afford all the Psychotherapy it will take to get the Lion out of his head. In my opinion he would be like a kid in a candy store throwing to our receivers.
But he's not coming if Drew is still here, he can instantly help a team hopefully anyone but Atlanta.

Stafford seems like a good guy that deserves to win more, but I'm not sure this is the place for him.

Atlanta is stuck with Ryan for the next two seasons. That last contract they gave him made sure of that. He has a $76M dead money hit this season, $50M for 2021, or $26.5M in 2022. The soonest they can cut or trade him is 2023 and that will still result in dead money of $8.6M!

Yeah, we've got a few folks on here that see the glass half empty. That's fine because we are all Saints fans. In life, people tend to interpret information differently and they express themselves differently. We're fortunate that most of our members are well informed and upbeat. Nonetheless, we keep it cordial and exchange philosophies and valuable football information.

When you look at a half a beer do you start thinking about your next one already? Or do you enjoy the rest of your beer? Personally, I look forward to finishing a beer....unless it's warm.

I’m usually thinking about my next beer long before I’m halfway done with my current beer. Like in chess, I’m two beers ahead. Except I’m better at drinking beer than playing chess.

I could see Stafford coming as a backup to Drew or Taysom

I'm thinking wherever Stafford goes he's most likely going to look to be the starter.

Stafford has been quite the subject here on Denver sports talk radio this past week. They've been clamoring for the Broncos to trade for him first and Matt Ryan second.

Yeah as much as I like Taysom, Stafford at the moment is leagues ahead of him in terms of QB play.

Stafford and Denver could be a good fit (i.e. big arm & high altitude), but I think it would be a lateral move in Stafford's eyes and I doubt he'd have much interest in such a move.

I think he'd be looking for a chance at the playoffs at the very least and while that is what every QB and player looks for - Stafford has earned his coin and I think he would be looking for success on the field first and foremost.

For what it's worth, I do hold Stafford in higher regard than Ryan.

As I pointed out earlier Ryan cannot go anywhere until 2023 with all the dead money built into his contract. He's a Failclown for at least two years after this.
