The Saints are the 1st Team to get in the Playoffs

This is the 8th time that the Saints have swept the Falcons in a season since 2006.

Glad Saints got a spot of course. Kinda a bummer Seattle lost too though, huh? They being in a tiie with The Lackers gave the Saints a buffer to lose a game, did it not ?

I’m not sure about that. It’s just important at this point to stay a game up on GB. SEA’s loss gives us a bigger buffer on them, of course.

The Eagles really started coming back after Hurts entered the game. The Saints might have their hands full next week.

It would be so much easier to face Wentz next week. Now there will be a lot of unknowns. I hope we don’t get caught looking ahead to the Chiefs.

It doesn't matter who plays QB for the Eagles. No OLine. No playmakers. The towel has been thrown in. Wentz is not THE problem. Hurts absolutely isn't the solution.

Agree. Just wish Brees could get a game under his belt before facing the "Chefs" the following week.

I want T. Hill to finish the regular season as the starting QB. The experience is invaluable moving forward. His extra zip on the ball is obvious and important in the NFL. It's also a necessity in any outdoor, bad weather games that may arise. Not to mention his leadership skills and his ability to make plays and change games with his legs. Plus, Brees may be healed, but there's no way he's healthy enough to play an NFL game.

Hill has exceeded expectations. At times, he's also shown his lack of experience.

When it comes playoff time, you want your veteran HOF'er running the offense.

However, it can be argued Payton should have used Taysom more during the Minnesota playoff game last season.

Did Foreverfan pass?

I haven't been spending as much time on the site as I use to.

That makes no sense. If he is healed he is healthy. He should be as healthy as he was prior to the first game of the season with the rest.

I'm afraid so. There's a pinned thread in the Saints Forum.

I disagree. As primarily a running QB, he's 1 hit away from his legs getting crushed. Running QB's do not have longevity in the NFL.

Second, this team needs to win right now because we are loaded with talent and backups from top to bottom. In the next few years, contracts will come for renewal and draft picks will want more money and we'll be top heavy.

Taysom has not proven any ability to run a 2 minute offense, lead the team back from 17 point deficit, and his passing skills are limited at best right now. Yesterday he threw his first NFL passing touchdown in 3 starts. He could have iced the game but the offense left points in the red zone on several drives. Taysom also has a fumbling problem this year that almost cost us yesterday and definitely cost us the Packers game. He's not 100% developed.

It's a terrible time to continue to use Taysom like this is a "preseason". Too much at stake.

As for Drew not being healthy comment - I don't know what to say. I read fans practically trying to run the guy off, but he's still a baller and a huge threat in the NFL. He had 11 fractured ribs and a collapsed lung and still threw for a touchdown. When he's ready to return, he will return as starter. It's just a fact. Having Taysom there is insurance for now and the future.

I trust in Payton to make the right QB decision, but if it were left to me I'd make opponents prepare for both of them more than before. I think it's situational. If we're up by 2 scores and the opponent ain't that great vs the run, let Taysom take over and ground and pound (albeit with Taysom on orders to focus on covering up the ball). If it's a 2-minute drill, then obviously Brees has to be in.

Brees is at his very best when in a rhythm. In fact, he may be the best ever. When he returns he needs to be in there for virtually every play. As the old saying goes, if you have two QB's then you have none.

I somewhat disagree, because Drew and Taysom have a really great rapport and, unlike most other 2 QB situations, our locker room is strong and players love both QB's regardless out of who is out there. Drew is like our Phillips head screwdriver and yes will want him out there in most situations, but occasionally that flat-head screwdriver (Taysom) sure comes in handy.

I'm not talking about either of them having a personal issue with sharing time. I speaking of in game flow. Pulling Brees for a play has more often than not resulted in an interruption of flow and frequently killed drives. Sure, Taysom has had some big gainers, but we could have just as easily moved the ball with Brees' arm as with Taysom's legs. A novelty play here or there, fine. But anything more would in my opinion be detrimental.

That was my first thought too. I miss him. His death hit me hard. He was a very good man and communicator.

It's awesome that our members care about each other this much. Friendships are built here on the BNG!:bng:

Full disclosure ... with the Saints at 10-2 and my Lakers being champions and fully loaded for this coming season I have been on a pro sports high. In such a good mood I finally caved this weekend and let my wife get a second dog.

Remember Troy Aikman bemoaning the substitution of Hill for Brees against the Vikings Then hitting Harris for a 50 yd gain? Then blocked for the TD by Kamara on the next play. Taysom Hill kept the Saints "in the game" against the Vikings.

I can only imagine how special it is being in the huddle with a guy who You know has passed for TDs, Blocked for TDs, Ran for TDs, caught slants across the middle for TDs, and been an ace on coverage to prevent TDs. If he wanted to play safety he’d be a pro bowler in 2 years.

It doesn’t matter who starts each week, if one goes down we have very competent backup.

No need to debate who wants who. We are covered.

We've got great home grown depth from our scouting department and coaches who can elevate a player if we need him to start.
