Flat Footed
Every game that we've lost this season has looked the same to me. From the first snap until the final whistle we look flat footed. Just going through the motions. I was screaming about it when my twin brother said that the announcers were talking about it too.
When we come out flat footed teams walk over us in all phases. It's a total team motivation thing I guess. I was wondering if someone would shoot a Saints player in the head because we looked like the walking dead out there. I knew it was a loss when we started three and out! EDIT: Does a trap game sound about right? |
Re: Flat Footed
Yeah, I used the “T” word in an earlier post. They’ve come out that way in many games too and had to fight from behind (Det, LA) So it’s not uncommon unfortunately. Not looking for excuses, but could fatigue from playing the third road game in a row have had an impact do you think?

Re: Flat Footed
"Flat-footed" – I thought for sure this was about Peat. :-)
The entire offensive line had a terrible game, but special recognition goes out to Armstead and Peat. Armstead was flat-out knocked around the couple of times for sacks, while Peat continued his quest to be one of the most overpaid offensive lineman in the NFL. He always seems to be thrown off balance by the defender and constantly has his feet in the mud. I think that Easton has been a better guard for us. He has had a terrific year so far, but Hendrickson was not good At all yesterday. There were several occasions in the first half in which hold contaminant and Hurts had some big runs over on his side. The only player who played well in both halfs was MT. The secondary did not play poorly either. Also can't wait to see D. Harris return. The Saints have really missed him on special teams, as well as a few plays on offense. Hopefully, this is just the kind of week a call they need before the playoffs. |
Re: Flat Footed
^^^ Peat …
Payton called him out by name to a reporter. It's quite rare for Sean to mention players specifically by name but he did. I guess those PFF player grades have some validity to it. Hate the contract they gave Andrus. |
Re: Flat Footed
The problem is that we have no better alternative. Cesar Ruiz grades out even worse than Peat.

Re: Flat Footed
The fact that the Eagles lost 6 players to injury in extremely quick succession during the game and were still getting through our O line is extremely troubling.
When a 3 win team is beating you with backups, questions need asking. |

Re: Flat Footed
All valid reasons why he's struggling so bad. I'm not calling the young man a bust. Peat is the lesser of two evils right now and we just have to deal with it. Peat definitely deserves a bulk of the blame but with better play calling, and Taysom not taking so long to make his reads, we can help mask the problem.
