If Payton declined that penalty, wouldn't that have given us the ball at Midfield?

Because the lineman can't progress a forward pass.

Win, lose or draw this Saints defense is pretty damn impressive. We're playing the Champs and a high powered offense.

Offense needs to help (ground control, eat up clock) him up though. They need a breather.

Sean would have had to have challenged that that wasn’t a pass to get the ball at mid field. That wasn’t clearly a pass or fumble to overturn, if anything it looked like there was an intended target so that would make it a pass.
