The Houston pro soccer team is called the "Dynamo." yawn. The were originally supposed to be the "1836-ers" -- meaning the year of Texas independence. But the suits were afraid the Mexicans would be offended, and some militant skin-obsessed hate groups were. What these dumbasses dont realize is that the Texas Revolution was no more a "race war" than the American Revolution. There were Hispanics fighting for the Texians both at the Alamo, and alongside Sam Houston. Look at the memorialized names of Texas revolutionaries -- what the HELL kind of name do you think ZAPATA is? or DE ZEVALA? Go to the battlefield at San Jacinto, and read the markers-- Spanish names everywhere. That would be like English dudes getting mad at the Philidelphia 76ers. Embarassing how stupid some of my brothers are. And if I gave a damn about soccer, I'd enjoy having '36ers stuff. |
