I see your reasoning but I just see bigger needs elsewhere.
I don't think Snead will command huge money because he don't have that type of production.

I would like us to sign Morestead on a looong contract extension that would make him cheaper now and let a rising cap "eat up" his expensiveness.

LMAO I knew a punter would tick people off. Riots in the streets. It is a cap thing more than anything else. We will sign Drew for between 20 to 28 million a year leaving around $0 to $8 million for any other FA. Estimated $28 million free cap space right now.

Besides we have a buy out in 2018 making him FA and no dead money in 2019.

    Thomas Morstead
    Potential Out: 2018, 6 yr, $19,014,097; $700,000 dead cap
    Savings $4.1 mil in 2018

As for a WR I am into the safest pick idea in the top of round 1, Teaming him up with Thomas would give the saint two studs on the outside. It would also keep Snead from demanding some crazy FA money. I do not expect the saints to do the safe thing. Like picking Latt over Howard in 2017.

If the saints did Ridely in 2018This would be a cap friendly group of WR for the next few years. Freeing up money to add a vet or two each year on defense. That is were a punter freeing up $4 million also comes into play.

Just wait till I do an all cap freeing draft lol

It also lets me put up more players and situationist for people to think about as the season goes on. Both in the NFL and in college.

I don't really see the need for drafting a WR in the first round. Even if he seems like a good player I much rather see us keep building the lines. An edge rusher opposite Jordan should be a priority.

And punter? Morestead is the best in the business right now, I'd much rather see us paying him, he is worth it. We will afford it now when most of the big dead-money contracts are off the books.

Saints 2018 Draft Pre Kick off

Absolutely am on-board for Falk and Fumigalli, though I think the Wisconsin TE is first round bound...

Why a Blocking TE with Hands is such a huge need.

Really wanted Adam Shaheen, but I thought he was more of an early third round pick.

Looks like our protege, Ryan Pace, had the same thoughts.

New Orleans Saints Draft Short List: Round 1 - 11

McCaffrey was the guy. Damn, it'd made my year to see him as our No.1 pick. Even with Lattimore shockingly falling. Still convinced Carolina took him to keep McCaffrey from the B&G more than they wanted him.

What is Nick Saban doing with those Bama players; by the time those guys get out of there, they're already physically crippled. Allen has been a fine player, but shoulder arthritis this early? That's scary

New Orleans Saints Draft Short List: Round 1 - 32

I really had a problem taking Mixon. We went through all that BS with Junior Galette and I think it's counter productive to make that same mistake again.

If we had completed the setup to a 3-4 defense last year, how nice would it be to add T.J. Watt this season; this back and forth, waffling on defensive fronts has been the biggest handicap to winning another championship.

Adoree Jackson went in the first round as it seemed he would; I wouldn't spend more on him than a late second, early third as he'll never be a front line CB.

Liked Ramcyzk over Bolles from the time draft discussion started.

Not at all sold on Kevin King.

Tre White is a Tracy Porter clone; which means someone will reach on him and find he won't tackle and not re-sign him when his rookie contract comes due...

I wouldn't mind a 3rd rd pick for a TE. I could see using 32 of Howard were there. That would be a luxury pick though. I think I Defense is more criticallr.

Draft Jake Butt at a discount and call it a day. I can't justify drafting Howard so early. He improved a great deal with his hands this past season, but I think any team that drafts Howard in the top half of the first round will be making a mistake.

Saints: SP needs a streaker and a toy to make Cooks happy

Im sick of toys . . . our offense is already good . get the defense going and play some Dam football . . . get some pressure on the quarterback, stop the run . . and stop giving up so much A@@ on special teams . . .

I'd rather have a DE or true LB (Foster).

Too risky for my liking personally. I think the scale tips closer to bust than boom. I'm sure he'll be there at 11 and probably even longer. Remember Shaq Thompson was considered a sure top 10 pick at one point and he very nearly slid out of the first. And he's no game changer today. Relatively solid player I suppose, but one of the elite DE's or LB's is almost surely going to fall to us and I think we could use one of either of those much more than a gadget player.

What about the RT from Baltimore, Rick Wagner? He's young and I hear they can't afford to re-sign him.
