The Butchers’ Toll
Part 2

Now what did the Saints do?
Let’s face facts here. Youth is the main need for our defense. We rented a Defense now for two years and they were not really any spring chickens out there. The Saints’ went all out in FA and the draft for defense. Yes we did add another group of aging vets to one year contracts in FA. Well that is our standard mode of operation. What was surprising was the signing of Randell Gay , Bobby McCray and the trade...

Big Time Gamblers?

The thread about the the Saints and the big time gamblers they are this year has forced me into a long rebuttal. One I thought was better for the blog than the thread. We talk about the reach of walking wounded the saints have signed in 2008 and compare them with the FA signed Philli and Carolina. Including the draft moves of others. I think we need to step back and see this team in the proper light.

I am trying to figure out what the saints are going to do in two years. Strief will be a FA in 2009. So I am using this as a timetable in this blog. In 2006 the Saints started rebuilding this unit and I want to see them finish it. We have to much money in the backfield to protect. We are close but how close are we? What additions and what kind of shuffling does this team need to do in order to compete against the elite DL in the NFL. Yes I want to run against the likes of the Vikings and Ravens....

Offensively There is NO Reason to Panic over the Offensive Line.

Over the last two off seasons the Saints have slowly pieced together what could be on of the best offensive foundations in the NFL. Now before you guys get the tar and feathers out for me, hear me out. Here is what we have to work with: Youth

LT - Jammel Brown - 26, Jermon Bushrod - 23
LG - Jamar Nesbit - 30, Andy Alleman - 23
OC - Jeff Faine - 26, C/G - Johnathan Goodwin - 28
RG -...
