I can only say that I simply do not understand the mentality...one of those Dixie Chicks got into some trouble thrashing Bush while overseas...in England I think...but no matter where really...

I totally 'get' that it's a free country. I totally 'get' the free speech angle and how crucial that is to our democracy. But I just do not understand the mentality that would cause a young and talented woman to place herself and her opinions (misguided to a large degree as she confessed years later) above the very nation that coddles her.

To each his or her own. I stopped being offended by these types of people a long time ago because I've learned it is my offense that fuels them. When I hear someone blowing hard, in either direction, my initial response anymore is to just move on.

Well that was simply a bad business decision on her part. She forgot who her audience was, and then insulted them.

I'm all for freedom of speech. There's a lot of things I'd like to say, BUT..... some of them might endanger my ability to bring a check home. I have this saying about being on the radio:

"You can say ANYTHING you want."
once.

Which is exactly why I'm shying away from politics here. If you dont know my ideology, and yours is different from mine, we can take the things we DO have in common and be completely cool. I have close friends who think I'm Full O' Crap. They would die for me, but they disagree with me.

Which reminds me of a very recent story.

I am a very much outed Saints fan, personally and professionally. Every regular listener of my station knows it, (I am the target of barbs
from the morning show host.) My wedding biz brochure is black and gold.

Well I showed up to meet a new bride and groom a couple of weeks ago, nice couple... Im pretty much the kind of DJ they want... good word of mouth going... first thing the groom says to me is, "I hate the Saints."

HAHAHAHAHAHA... (he's a Steeler fan.) but he knew all about me.

First thing that came to my head was, "Uh oh, did I Dixie Chick myself?"
hahahaha...

Somehow we put aside our huge cultural differences, and got thru the Free Bridal Consultation just fine.

They booked me yesterday. whew.

I also belive in free speech...so here my free speech. This low-life traitorous *****, was trashing my country, while in the country of our enemy, also while sitting on the very anti-aircraft guns that shot down and killed our pilots and airmen. I think she should have been tried and executed as a traitor to our country. I hope she dies and rots in Hell. That's not a right or left statement. That's a right or wrong statement. If I offended any of my friends on this board, I appologize.

You know the thing about politics...and religion...I enjoy discussing them. I should say I enjoy discussing them with like-minded people, which is not to mean those with the same opinion.

I like to argue. I like to debate. I have learned a LOT about religion and politics by doing both. My grandpa...I grew up listening to him go at it with his friends, which is probably where I got the like for it, but what I noticed was that at the end of those discussions everybody was still friends. Those old dudes respected alternate opinions. Now, I've heard my grandpa tell my grandma, "you know, that guys is an idiot, and here's why", but that was on the way home from their house after a night of debate and coffee, and it was never disrespectful.

And that's what it comes down to. It's so easy to NOT have respect for another person in a forum like this. If all the players are well-intentioned and at the end of the topic, RESPECTFUL, those conversations can be enjoyable and educational and insightful and funny...etc.

However, sadly, I agree with you SM. I'd hate to see politics cause me to lose what little respect for Choupique I still manage to have. LOL
