Rams to host next 3 games in UK

The NFL announced Friday that the Rams will play the Patriots at Wembley Stadium on Oct. 28, the first of three consecutive seasons in which St. Louis will host a regular-season game in the United Kingdom.

With the announcement, the Rams have become the first NFL team to commit to play regular-season games abroad on an annual basis. They will play one regular-season home game in the U.K. in 2012, ’13 and ’14.

To me, these games take away from the game of football, next the NFL will have teams overseas and this will be the end of the great American sport we know and love. Money talks.

I don't know what the exact stats are, but I always feel like those UK games are the kiss of death for a team's season. I can't ever recall a team that played in one of those games, being in the post season that same year. Saints in 2008 being a prime example. I know some of the logic seems to be pitting one good team against another team with bad home stadium attendance (Tampa Bay seemed to be over there a lot, San Diego, now the Rams) but if I was a coach I would be royally pissed to have that on my schedule. The travel is just too much of a distraction and inconvenience. The Saints came back from their game in Wembley and lost to the Falcons, which was a MUCH more important game. And looked flat, tired, and not like themselves. I can't put it into words, it just screwed up the whole season somehow.

London games are stupid. NFL Europe was the good solution - they were stupid to get rid of it.

not for 3 years, anyway. We would play the Rams again in 2015, unless we finish in the same place in our division that they do

This is actually a good move for the Rams. They don't sell out at home, so why not go with the money. The owner has a futbol team in London, so maybe he is working the cross-branding angle.
Better them than us
