Your task: teach your German Who Dat member, please!

Hey my friends,

I would like to ask you for a favor. In the meantime, I became pretty good at the Football rules, but there is still a lot to learn for me.

I'd be very happy and would appreciate your support in explaining some things to me I don't understand so. If you could stop-by in this thread from time to time and check out my - hopefully not too stupid - questions, that'll be great!

In return, if you want to know anything about soccer or anything else concerning Germany, I would be more than happy to answer you!

Thanks a lot in advance!!! Looking forward to learn from your expertise :)

Yours Wilde18

Mods, not sure if this is the right place for my thread...

My first question is how the picks for player transfers work. As far as I have heard, the worse teams get to pick new players first. Is that right?

Second question is when players can go to another team? To they have to fullfill their contract, like i.e. Drew Brees has signed for 5 years. Can another team buy him out of the current contract for a certain amount?

If so, can a player change the team during the runnng season or does he have to wait until SB is played or could he change after the regular season?

I am asking this because in soccer a team can make an offer for a player from another team. His current team either says no or yes. Depending on the money the new team wants to pay for him. There is also a list of all players showing his current worth on the market based on his performance. It also plays a role if the club and the player agree in keep working together. These transfers are made during summe break, in May when the season is over, and during winter break from 01 January until 30 January. This is bad, because the rich clubs can easily buy a player from poorer clubs. Because these clubs are short on money they cannot disagree in making extra money.

The clubs run themselves, and many have problems making enough money. There are no owners like in the NFL i.e. They are more run like companies. Clubs do also move up and down between leagues. Moving down means less TV money and loosing sponsors, the biggest money sources.

Hey buddy!

You are correct on your first question, worst picks first in the draft.

Players can be traded up to the deadline, which is Week 8.

Maybe this will help:

Who's your favorite Bundesliga team? I follow the English Premier league mostly, but, used to watch the Bundesliga a bit and enjoyed it. Didn't watch long enough to have a favorite team though.
