Good. Let them pay him everyone's salary.

Re: Falcons and Ryan agree to new deal

Way too much money for someone who never won a superbowl. 103 mil for a regular season winner and a post season choke job till last year. With the money left they aren't gonna be able to get too many good ppl with Ryan hogging the cap space.

The end is nigh

Looks like Julio Jones will be a Saint soon.

Re: Falcons and Ryan agree to new deal

Flacco, Romo and Ryan. 1 won a ring because Ray Lewis can scream and other 2 are media creations. Its a good offseason to be a 2nd tier QB in the NFL

I don't know about a Saint, but it's going to be damn near impossible to resign him with one 20 mill a year already on the books

I'm being hopeful. Lol.

So, does this make him the 5th highest paid QB in the league? Can we all get off Matt Stafford's jock? (j/k)

Good thing Tony Gonzalez came back for one more year. They won't find out that he isn't worth it till next season now. Haha

All I can say is Falcons fans better feel pretty nervous about this.

He is between Flacco and Rodgers in pay.... Skill is debatable.

With no ring and how many post season wins?

Re: Falcons and Ryan agree to new deal

Anything less than a Super Bowl appearance this season will open them up to SO much criticism. Time's catching up with Tony G, Roddy White and Steven Jackson.

Re: Falcons and Ryan agree to new deal

Tony was already established and Julio was a first rounder. He's not worth that kind of money. Those are elite targets. I think it had to do more with him jumping ship. A lot of teams would pay dearly for a half decent QB so they made him an offer he could not refuse.

Someone pointed out to me that between Stafford, Romo and Ryan, they have a combined $300M dollars and only two playoff wins. Mark Sanchez has more playoff wins than all three of them combined and he doesn't make even close to that much.

Hell, Tebow has as many playoff wins as those three.

Sorry SloMotion!!

No one really, that's why I put the (j/k) ... it was more or less a backhanded slap at Ron Jaworski ... just a knee-jerk reaction,.

No offense taken, we all know Tebow's a "winner",. It's uncanny, but you can't deny what he did in Denver.

I'm interested in your opinion of the deal Spot on... I know you're not a troll so as a Falcons fan what is your gut feeling? You guys are in the same boat now that we're in with Drew so do you foresee any big salary cap issues when it comes to keeping your own players?

Just a guess, but I think he's probably of the opinion that they paid a B-Plus QB A-Plus money.

He'd be right too.

Sure Matt Ryan is a B+ QB, but that's why I'm interested in his take... He's been critical of the Falcons in his posts so I think he'd have a level-headed take on the situation. Not trying to bait an argument, just curious because it's the kind of deal that changes the future of an organization.

We'd better hope the cap goes WAY up.

Because otherwise we've confined ourself to the NFCS cellar.

And don't be surprised if you see JJ11 in another team's jersey.

The Patriots have the cap room and need help.

Being that I'm a lifelong Bama fan and Julio played right down the street from me, and the fact that I was crushed to the bone when the Falcons picked him, I hope you are 100% correct.

Even if its the hated Patriots I'll dance for joy when he leaves the Falcons.

Great the ass cock owners price people like me even more out of being able to go to a game because they have to pay a good but not great players HUGE frippen bucks.

Damn... I wouldn't even say that he's a bottom third QB. I guess he does have elite weapons but that's why I was interested in your take. Roddy's probably going to be retired or cut because of age taking its toll before Julio's contract is up as well as other players being gone so I don't think Julio is going anywhere. I think you guys are probably gonna be fine... If there's anything we've learned from Mickey Loomis it's that there are so many ways around salary cap hell LOL.

Nowhere near a similarity there. We have a coach, a better GM, and an elite QB who has no argument or question about his track record or "elite" status. Atlanta has none of those things, at the level of quality that the Saints have them. Our GM and front office's precise talent is, scouting and signing hidden gems and high quality (and thus less expensive) players in the mid to later rounds, and making really smart, low cost free agent acquisitions (Sproles, Shockey, Vilma, etc). The Saints have been doing this for years, which is a perfect salary cap compliment to a highly paid, high value QB like Drew Brees. The Falcons' front office's MO is to reach down to pick up whatever shiny glittering objects that happen to catch their attention that minute. Falcons fans are STILL debating Ryan's "elite" status after every Falcons' loss and always will be, even after he is retired. It's been proven time and again, that Drew adds value when he makes lesser players perform better by being around him; no one ever says that about Ryan, it's all "star power" over in Atlanta, Julio, Tony, Roddy, Turner and they are about to find out long term that it's not a winning recipe.

The 125M salary cap will be consumed by someone. Whether its 124M to 1 player and 1M between the other 52, or equal distribution.... It has no effect on your ticket price.
