Carnival 2010 peaceful and packed

Catholic churches had beefed up their schedule of masses today to accommodate those wishing to receive the traditional daubing of ashes and those hoping to atone for their sins.

New Orleans Police superintendent Warren Riley said the festivities had been larger than normal and more peaceful than usual. Riley credited the Saints historic victory for the decrease in violence. He says people were just too happy to cause much trouble.
