The Chop House is pretty freakin\' amazing for a steak lover. Likewise, Gibson\'s and Morton\'s make a hell of a steak too.

Chicago\'s food certainly ain\'t NO\'s, especially when it comes to seafood. But they do some things well. Steak and Americana is great up here. So is mexican and polish... pretty good chinese and japanese too. You just have to learn to like different food. Still, halibut just doesn\'t compare to trout, hot isn\'t hot, and most people up here could do good by learning how to use a grill and the definition of marinade.

I was recently in Detroit for about a month for work. Most all of the places I ate had food that was so bland it was incredible. I ended up eating at Taco Bell most of the time. Until... my third week there I found a creole restaurant opened by a guy from New Orleans. I ate there almost everyday after that.

Whodat, I stopped in Chicago for a few days on my way home. Ate at Chicago Pizza Authority and Clark\'s down the street from Wrigley field. I was looking for some good Polish food, but didn\'t have enough time to do my research. I need some perogie and sausage.

Clarke\'s on Belmont? \"You must be hungry.\" Good greasy spoon - great breakfast food.

Never actually been to CPA - we \"locals\" like Giordano\'s. Chicago-style pizza has ruined me on all others.

I\'m amazed you didn\'t get real drunk and hit Weiner\'s Circle at 3:00 am. That\'s fun - they ***** at you and you\'re supposed to talk trash back. Comedy. BnB would love it.

Really? Giordano\'s is a \"locals\" place? I visited Chicago in June, and I had to wait over an hour just to be seated in Giordano\'s. But the deep dish pizza there was awesome. They claim that they\'re the creator of the Chicago deep dish pizza. Is that true?

Another Chicago restaurant I really enjoyed was Harray Caray\'s. THAT was most definitely a locals restaurant. Lots of businessmen in suits. I\'ll never forget when I was wearing a WHITE SOX hat inside the restaurant. Everyone in the building was staring at me throughout my meal. My waiter even came by told me to remove my cap because, quote, \"we don\'t wear anything representing THAT team in here. This is a Cubs-fan only restaurant.\"

And he was serious, too. Luckily, I had a Cubs hat with me by chance. I put it on and the whole restaurant started applauding. It was probably the most embarrasing moment in my life... :sulkoff:

If you like a good brunch, there is the court of two sisters that is good. My dad plays music there a coule days during the week. I have gone there for their sunday brunch a couple times, when I am in town. I plan on going again when I get back from Iraq.

Been to Chicago frequently, never to the Chop House, but there\'s a place on the Navy Pier (Goat\'s Head Tavern???) that\'s a great greasy spoon-type of place. Someone once told me it was the inspiration for the old Saturday Night Live \"cheeseburger\" skit with Akroyd & Belushi.

If any of you LSU fans decide to take a trip to Tuscaloosa next time you play up here, stop by the world famous Dreamland BBQ and order the ribs. Great food and atmosphere, and a place with alot of SEC football tradition (sorta like that place in Baton Rouge I can\'t recall the name of...).

Or, closer to Birmingham, come on up to the house and lemme take you to the Stadium Grill. Best burgers in the state, with waitresses that call you \"sugar\" or \"darlin\" whilst bugging the crap out of you with the over-attentive service.

As for New Orleans: I\'m a fan of Brennan\'s, Remoulade, Acme Oyster House and, of course, Cafe du Monde.

Guilty pleasure: I know it\'s a chain, but I gotta admit Buffett\'s Margaritaville Cafe is pretty good for \"bar food.\" Excellent drunk chicken & cheeseburgers, per the song...

The locals I know told me they prefer CPA over Giordano\'s. I have to say I was disappointed in the crust. It was very hard, not soft and bready like other deep dishes I\'ve had before.

That\'s pretty funny... Glad I didn\'t go there, cause I\'m a Sox fan too.

Real Chicago-style deep dish has a harder crust - not the bready ones you get from Domino\'s or wherever. Granted, you shouldn\'t break a tooth on the crust, but it\'s generally a little hard, yes.
