Dems apologize for using Russian warships in convention tribute to vets
Democrats apologized Wednesday for using a fleet of Russian warships as the backdrop for a Democratic National Convention tribute to U.S. military veterans, blaming a vendor for the mistake.
http://a57.foxnews.com/global.fncsta...cnavyships.JPG The event occurred on the final night of last week’s convention when retired Adm. John Nathman paid tribute to veterans, in front of a gigantic screen that showed four ships from the Russian Federation Navy. “Due to vendor error, incorrect images appeared briefly on screen behind 51 veterans during the convention, and the (Democratic National Convention Committee) apologizes for this mistake,” the group said in a statement. The DCCC also asked that the error not diminish the words of Nathman and others who touted President Obama's record on “issues that impact those who have served our nation.” However, the group used the apology to criticize Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, whom they said “failed to even mention” veterans in his convention speech.” The mistake was exposed earlier this week by at least two experts who told The Navy Times they were certain the ships were Russian and that the backdrop image appears to be a composite photo that includes U.S. trainer jets flying overhead. The image shows ships with radar designs not used in the U.S. fleet. Navy veteran Rob Barker reportedly detected the mistake and notified the publication. He said his assignment as an electronics warfare technician included the identification of foreign ships by their radars. “The ships are definitely Russian,” said author Norman Polmar, a naval and aviation expert. “There’s no question of that in my mind.” Read more: Dems apologize for using Russian warships in convention tribute to vets | Fox News |

Intentional or incompetence?
Seems like we can ask that about every failure (and there's a zillion of them) of the Democratic party. Either way, its time to fire their asses. |

I suspect if someone never heard of a navy "corpsman" they probably can't tell the difference between the Russian and US navies.

Re: Dems apologize for using Russian warships in convention tribute to vets
A quick update ... those airplanes are not ours either... evidently, they are planes from Turkey. Those Dems .... :bang:
The Democratic Party’s national convention in Charlotte, N.C., may have doubled down on insulting the U.S. military community. The Democratic National Committee has already apologized for using a photo of four Soviet-era Russian warships in a giant stage backdrop intended to illustrate the party’s support for military personnel and veterans. That huge image, visible in the Time Warner Cable Arena during speeches by Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry and retired Admiral John B. Nathman, also depicted a synchronized formation of jet aircraft that convention-goers assumed were American fighter planes. But the F-5 fighter planes in the photo are part of the air force of Turkey, a nation whose government is now jailing journalists and establishing Islam as a state religion. Brad Woodhouse, a spokesman for the Democratic National Committee, did not respond when the The Daily Caller asked why the convention planners displayed Turkish-flown aircraft alongside Russian warships while seeking support from the American military community. On Sept. 12, Democrats apologized for using the picture of Soviet-era, Russian-operated ships after the slip up was first reported by the Navy Times. The Navy Times also received a tip that the planes depicted may have been from the Turkish Air Force. (NAVAL EXPERT: Ships shown during Democratic convention tribute to veterans were Russian) The vessels, with their distinct radars and blue-cross-motif Russian naval flags, occupied the center of the massive backdrop. The aircraft were depicted flying in a seven-plane formation on the upper right. http://cdn01.dailycaller.com/wp-cont...71-300x200.jpg Read more: Fighter jets shown at DNC were Turkish, not American | The Daily Caller |
