Pelosi: Democrats will amend Constitution to overturn ‘Citizens United’ if they control House
 

If Democrats were to take control of the House of Representatives after the November elections, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her party would “amend the [U.S.] Constitution” on the “very first day” to overturn the Supreme Court’s “Citizens United” decision.

President Obama said he supports a constitutional amendment to reverse the ruling and keep undisclosed corporate contributions out of elections.

“On the very first day we would have a jobs bill. We would have a jobs bill, much of it would contain what President Obama has in the American Jobs Act. It would be as simple as A-B-C. Make it in America. Build America’s infrastructure. See developed growth from the community. And that means education of our children, the police and fire safety of our neighborhoods, that sense of community and fairness,” Pelosi said during her weekly press briefing Thursday on Capitol Hill.

“We would pass a DISCLOSE Act. ‘I’m Nancy Pelosi, I approve this message’ — but Mr. Big Bucks who put hundreds of millions of dollars into campaigns to get tax breaks for their industry or their heirs, they don’t have to disclose their names. So DISCLOSE: Amend the Constitution to overturn ‘Citizens United.’”

Taking control of the House ... that is the one thing I hope does not happen. I already saw in the first two years of the Obama Administration how much he would accomplish with a Democratically-controlled House & Senate ... nada, zip, zero. Being the Chief Executive with your political party having a majority in Congress and still not being able to pass legislation is telling.

Pelosi scares me. She and Harry Reid represent to me partisan politics at their worst.

I really enjoyed the Clinton years when he had a Republican House & Senate and since my Third Party candidate will undoubtedly lose the election, I would think I could stomach 4yrs of Obama with a Republican House & Senate ... but I don't anticipate looking forward to 4yrs of Obama with a Democratic House & Senate and especially if Pelosi returns to Speaker of the House.

One of the reasons I think I might support Hillary is that Bill would be back in the White House.

Let me tell everyone who's willing to listen. The worst thing that could happen in this country, right now, is Obama on his second term with a Super Majority and nothing to lose. I say this not because I think he's an evil man. I say it because, while genuine, he simply does not value the things that made America what America is. He is pro big government and doesn't apologize for it. The founders, having plenty of experience with it, were flatly against it - for good reason.

All one need do is look to the mess that Europe has become. Speaking for myself only, it's far less about Obama the man and entirely about the evidence we can easily see. I simply do not understand, considering all things, how a person could believe differently than I do, and I'm not trying to be an ass by saying that.

Obama was raised with a favorable view of the plight and the struggle of the third world man and taught to blame America for it. His mother married two of them, and divorced the second after he began to succeed. His filter is that of his Mother, not his father. He didn't even know his father. He is very much like me. He knows of his father what his mother represented. Seriously. He was heavily influenced by a card-carrying Communist as a young boy and was indoctrinated by extremists who believe, without question, that America is abusive. It's no mystery. It's not even debatable. It is what it is.

It he a Communist? No. It he a Socialist? Beyond a doubt he is. There are educated people in our Country who fully support a socialist agenda. They are willing to amend the Constitution to that end. Obama isn't the first. The Progressives were at it at the turn of the 20th Century. Roosevelt, and later Truman and LBJ. There were other's of course.

I'm not talking social programs here. I'm talking about a fundamental shift in American Government. I am quite happy to see Obama's agenda being exposed, however I am disappointed that it has taken so long, and unfortunately I believe, as we have seen in this very forum on our little web site, there are people who simply do not get it. In some cases they are aware and don't care. In other cases they are blind to what's truly happening. In other cases they are flatly uneducated in history. Some are I swear just not smart enough to grasp it.

Please God, don't allow this man another Super Majority in his second term. It is the thing that scares me most.

2000-2006. And a majority in the Supreme Court.
Yet no significant modifications to the items on the Republican agenda: abortion, social security, welfare, tax code.
handed a balance budget, a surplus actually, and complete control, and what did we get?
I'm with you- neither party should have that kind of power

which is why it's ironic that the Tea Party's divisive effect on the Republican party might hand the Dems a majority

Until we have campaign reforms with limits on contributions, a 3rd party will never be anything but a spoiler, creating the exact opposite effect of their intent.
