this is a discussion within the Poli-Sci Community Forum; The expiration of the 2% "Payroll Tax holiday" is what you all are actually talking about. This went into effect in 2010 and was only meant to last one year, but was extended an extra year. I remember how great ...

This went into effect in 2010 and was only meant to last one year, but was extended an extra year. I remember how great everyone said Obama was when this went into effect back then. such ignorance indeed |

The temporary tax relief was lifted this year. Are you saying it is more than it was in December 2010? My sarcasm machine isn't working to well in my previous post: Obama didn't get praise for the temporary tax cut in 2010, he merely gets blame when it expires. |

Re: Obama pins blame on Republicans for looming cuts, as fiscal hawk warns of 'failed presidency'
Thanks for the chart, it illustrated that the payroll tax wasn't increased from it's previous level. It was restored from where it was in 2010. It sure didn't sound like that in all of the Obama bashing from the previous posts. Your "History Lesson" was also quite enlightening. I really enjoyed reading it. I'm sure that back when you posted it there were little to no complaints. Here is the problem with many of arguments from the right, they're not based in reality. I submit for your approval: Social Security History When you look at things without those TeaParty colored glasses, your perspectives change. I highly recommend it. |

It's not a revenue problem, but a SPENDING PROBLEM. One has to draw the line somewhere. Why don't they actually have a budget and mandate to set aside 10% so that it builds into an eventual endowment? It'd never work as the libs could not stand having all of this rainy day money sitting there accumulating. I think you should introduce a bill whereby none of this should be payroll-deducted, and that folks would be forced to write a check for all the taxes, not just the embedded taxes. Please let me know just how far that gets you?
