Bonuses Defended

San Antonio Express News:
Bonus defended: Saints safety Steve Gleason said he can understand why some fans might object to the $40,000 bonus the NFL and NFLPA negotiated for Saints players many of them millionaires who have been with the team all season.

But he said there's another way to look at it. Because of Hurricane Katrina, the team has been at a competitive disadvantage compared to the rest of the league. As a result, "it's put a lot of careers in jeopardy," Gleason said.

"Some players' earning potential now is in shambles," he said. "So they potentially stand to lose millions. In that light, I'd say (the bonus) was justified."
I wondered how long it would take one of the players to try to justify getting the NFL Katrina bonuses to ease their conscience. If they even cared about the fans and what they have been through they would use the money to help the ones who lost everything in the Ninth Ward or New Orleans East. I will almost guarantee you that not one of them will put one nickle towards it. If any of them do you will know which of them really care about the fans.

As far as putting a lot of careers in jeopardy don't blame that on Katrina. Alot of them, i.e. Brooks, were alredy in jeopardy. This makes me want to puke.

We suck...So we need money

I can't even begin to express how damn pathetic that statement is. Their earning potential is in shambles?? And thats because of?? The team or the hurricane?? I just love it when millionaires poor-mouth.
