I'M NOT SUPPORTING BROOKS

Brooks played good enough to take us but you can't win without at least a fair defense

The defense misses 20 plays a game and so we are forced to ask the QB to win the game despite the OL screwing up worse than Brooks.

YES YOU ARE. Holy crap, how dense can you be? You can't say, "I'm not supporting Brooks," and then go out and defend him. That's called supporting him. But it's not even that which is so annoying. This is:

I don't want to get in to an argument on Brooks's carreer because

Why can't you guy see that Brooks was an average QB on a crappy team that was in way over his head and asked to win too many games by himself.

Crappy team? THey went to the playoffs. Half of that season (the better half with the better record) was played with Jeff Blake, not AB. Deuce, Horn, Turley, Bentley, Glover, Roaf, Williams. Crappy? Squirrel please. You have no idea what you're talking about.

As stated, the stats di look better because we were constantly behind. Maybe that is why AB racked up so many TD's and yds.

No flaming here. I'm glad to have ya aboard. I will correct erroneous suppositions forwarded as facts. In relative terms I will also contend with anyone who thinks Leon should be remembered as a good QB also. We won in spite of him more than we ever won because of him.

My point about those qb's is that they DO NOT parallel Brooks. They were legitimately great QBs that for the most part did play on either overall poor or at least very defensive deficient teams- yet they all still performed at All-Pro/HOF levels. That was AB's outrageously egotistic claim! The reality was that he was an erratic error-prone athlete on some bad teams. He has never even been to a Pro Bowl once.

I'll concede average on his better days. As I said, Shuler sucked worse but Leon still sucked too. Chrissy Everett might have had more records than him if he had stuck around long enough. Your commendation of him certainly sounds like more than what would be given to an average qb. If you keep the quoted point emphasized you probably could have better dialogue about him. I'd rather look forward than back though myself.
