He won't be in camp on time. It's going to take the pressure of camp starting to get the two sides to hammer out a deal. It'll be a couple of days, or maybe a week.
to the question of Bush being in camp on time (posted May 27th)...

But without Vince Young's contract at the NFL offices, nothing's going to happen. If Reggie signs anything, then Vince's contract comes out as some kind of crazy blockbuster, then he'll look rather foolish.
to the issue of Vince's contract, posted earlier this week:

It has all come to pass. But I think now the pieces are in place. Camp has started. Vince's contract is in and it is a blockbuster (30% more than last years #3 contract).

Hopefully both sides can agree to the slot espoused here:

As for Bush, the Saints have $2.7 million in remaining rookie pool money after signing all their other draft picks, a task the team completed on Thursday. Based on that pool number, a league source said Friday that the maximum amount of guaranteed money Bush can receive in a six-year deal is $26.3 million, just a shade under Williams.

The Saints are essentially locked into guaranteeing more because of the slotting that normally goes with the signing of draft picks from the top down. The team had hoped to pay much less in guaranteed money, but that possibility disappeared with the Young deal.
So now it's time for rubber to hit the road. I only have one concern left. From the same article:

The Saints had also hoped to get Bush to sign a five-year deal, but that also appears unlikely.
Now that's a problem. The team is guaranteeing the dude $26 million. The thought that he can escape after 4 years scott free is disconcerting. Reggie's contract is going to have to have voidable years where he has to earn that free agency. And not just with patsy number either. True superstar running back numbers like 1500 yards and 300+ touches in a year. I think that Reggie is going to be a spectaular back, but that not full time. If he wants to hit the free agent market early, he's going to have to show that he can be the man full time. Because if he does, then the Saints may be willing to break the bank on him.

We will see how it all pans out. It's still 11 days until the first preseason game. That one probably isn't critical. But that second game, his butt better be in camp.

All the numbers are set except for the years. So unless one side or the other is being completely unreasonable, there's no reason to drag this out too much further.

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.
