Mason Crosby

http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sco...soncrosby.html

I think this guy is going to be a great nfl kicker... carney is getting old, and i think this is the last year of his contract. The saints could use crosby like they did cundiff for a year, but i bet crosby could make a 47 yarder in the cold, and not kick it out of bounds like "kickoff specialist" cundiff. If he is still available in the 3rd round the saints gotta take him... and i think that if the saints do a good enough job in FA they may back up a few spots and take him late in the 2nd round. Also, kicking in the dome will only help this guy since he's battled the elements for 4 years in colorado... we're gonna need a solid kicker in the near future... what do you think???

I've got a serious question to ask. How would a street free agent kicker get a tryout with the Saints? And no, not asking for myself.

While I agree a solid kicker is pretty much a necessity nowadays, I'm not sure if I would spend a 2nd, or 3rd round pick on one. I mean, unless he's hitting them from like 65-70 yards consistently, then you have to take him. He's a miracle from God!

I would tell the guy to get an agent, do the old "trying to get in college" video tape of his games and go to the team headquarters.

If we're gonna replace Carney, I'd prefer the Saints bring in a proven kicker who can thrive under pressure and not take risks with a rookie kicker. With our potent offense, we should be able to lure Feely or Josh Brown at a reasonable price. Preferably Brown.

Isn't Feely the guy who choked 3 times against the Seahawks in one game in the regular season in 2005? Lets stay away from that guy.

hagan714 01-31-2007 06:44 AM

well we may have a shoot at him 2 but he wont be there in 3

Carney had a great year. In case you guys didn't know this, kickers in the NFL can play until they're 73.

I love em, I'd take em on the 2nd day

CheramieIII 02-02-2007 08:06 PM

What happened to Connor Hughes from Virginia?

D24pick 02-02-2007 11:16 PM

I have no idea, I liked him over Cundiff

saintsfan1313 02-03-2007 06:51 PM

Crosby looked horrible in the College All Stars challenge today, homeboys from UCLA and Auburn looked better

zachsaints52 02-05-2007 01:23 PM

Plus Crosby had the thin air of Colarado.... I would use a 3rd on him, but might wanna trade back...

NarwhalHunter 02-06-2007 12:40 AM

Ain't no kicker in the world worth a first day pick...

SaintPauly 02-06-2007 07:35 AM

While I agree that there are more important things to look at in the first round than kickers, I would also like to pose you with this question...... Who is the all time leading scorer for the New Orleans Saints? If you know the answer, then you also know that our wins and losses record would be more towards "losses" if we hadn't had him for all of those years. Between him, and the "Dome Patrol", we had alot of great regular season records, when we were in the West.
Kickers are more important, than people want to admit. Especially in these, the days of free agency. Great teams, like the 70s Pittsburgh Steelers, the 80s 49ers, and the 90s Dallas Cowboys, with their score at will offenses are a thing of the past for the most part. Games are becoming less, and less, blowouts, due to parody in the NFL, and a great kicker is not only an asset, but a Godsend. Many a game, has been won, on the foot of one player. We as Saints fans should know this already, thanks to M.A.
