bill purcells was hired by new orleans as, well, lets just say a consultant and or a background coach such as anything on the defensive side where him and payton could exchange ideas with payton running the show?
a position he could be comfortable at without it killing him to do it.......

I don't know... I think these old guard coaches are becoming obsolete. Gibbs, Vermeil, Parcells, etc.

Dallas flat out quit last year- we put up 42 and Detroit 39 IN Dallas, in the last month of the season. They showed no heart, and he just had a faraway look in his eyes.

He would do better in a much smaller role (like you described) but remember, this is Parcells. The guy has major control issues.

After last year, we need nobody. Parcells is washed up. His era of coaching is over. The day when you could threaten a player with his job and actually mean it is long gone. All you can do now is fine him a couple of grand which is no big deal to someone making millions. Besides his ego wouldn't let him take on a small role.
