bill purcells was hired by new orleans as, well, lets just say a consultant and or a background coach such as anything on the defensive side where him and payton could exchange ideas with payton running the show?
a position he could be comfortable at without it killing him to do it....... what do you think? |

I don't know... I think these old guard coaches are becoming obsolete. Gibbs, Vermeil, Parcells, etc.
Dallas flat out quit last year- we put up 42 and Detroit 39 IN Dallas, in the last month of the season. They showed no heart, and he just had a faraway look in his eyes. He would do better in a much smaller role (like you described) but remember, this is Parcells. The guy has major control issues. |

After last year, we need nobody. Parcells is washed up. His era of coaching is over. The day when you could threaten a player with his job and actually mean it is long gone. All you can do now is fine him a couple of grand which is no big deal to someone making millions. Besides his ego wouldn't let him take on a small role.
