If Deuce gets over 10,000 yards, is he HOF material
 

I want your imput on this guys, if Deuce can somehow can get 10,000 yards in his overall career, do you think he should get in the HOF? Take into account he may win a few NFC Titles before he gets there, and maybe a SB, but if you are an NFL HOF commissioner and you had to vote for a guy like Deuce MC, and he had 10,000 yards in his career, would you vote for him?

Thats my question to you guys, I think Deuce will get near 10,000 yards before it all said and done with the Saints and or another team, and yes It is hard to get 10,000 yards, hell its hard to get even 6,000 which Deuce has now already, before its all said and done if he gets that 10,000 number, and it is hypothetical,

Does Deuce Deserve the HOF?

So far, I say no. Deuce is my favorite Saints player, but his injuries have kept him from maintaining recognition as an elite RB. He's gotten there once or twice, but then it has vanished. However, if this team does do well, then I can see him getting a ton more credit for what's happening with the team and winning Championships and SB's will certainly help.

I'm thinking 12,000 yards would make him much viable for HOF. I guess the question I have is where is the yardage line that gets you in? Is every RB with 10,000 yards in the HOF? Is it 12,000?

I think it's possible that Deuce is capable of getting to the 10,000 yard mark, but may no longer be likely. His work load will probably steadily decrease in the up coming years. Then you have to consider his age. He is still a relatively young guy age wise, but when considering the years he has played in the NFL would suggest he is on the back end of his career. If he can go another solid 4 or 5 years, then maybe he has a chance at the HOF, especially if the Saints play great during that stretch. Even if he gets to the 10,000 yard mark, I would say he is fringe at best for making the HOF, the 10,000 yard mark is no guarantee these days.

From that list i ould say it is going to tke at least 11,000 yards for him to make the HOF. A RB like Tomlinson could probably make it on less because he is generally respected as the best in the game and has been for a few years. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Curtis Martin and Jerme Bettis.

I've felt like Martin would make the HOF, but not really for Bettis. If for some reason one of these uys doesn't get in, then that will raise the bar on what it takes yardage wise.

I see Faulk with a good chance for the same reason as I explained with Tomlinson.

Ricky Waters and Eddie George are both close to that 11k, but I don't see them as HOF. Don't take this wrong though, I think a guy like Corey Dillon might make it ith less yards than them. Yardage isn't everything here.

If Deuce is at 6k now I can see him approaching 10k without another long term injury. How much more than that depends on a lot of factors.

If Deuce gets the rushing title, and a superbowl MVP this year, he will be a hall of famer. I want to see him on fire for one full season, and have everything go right.

I am so biased because he's my favorite player, but logic tells me that as it stands now, he's not a HOFer. If the Saints make a run at a few SBs over the next three years and win one or two with Deuce being a major contributor, then his chances are better, regardless of his yardage.

To me, the Hall is less about stats and more about being a model NFL player. That starts with on field performance, but you gotta look at character on and off the field and try to judge a players overall impact on the NFL and the game as a whole.

Take Madden for example. Obviously a great coach with the SB win and a stellar win percentage, but only coached 9 or 10 seasons. Him being the voice of the NFL since Cosell died had to have an impact on him getting to Canton.

Then yes... if not, probably no. He needs more accolades. I'm a big numbers guy so if he should get 10,000 yards, he's at least worth consideration. I think lack of media attention and the market he plays in hurts his chances a bit.

I think he will be in the HOF, but he will not retire as a Saint. I would hate to see him go, but in 3-4 years when contracts are updated I don't see the organization shelling out 75% of our cap for the backfield(DEUCE, BREES, BUSH)

Could he get there? Sure.

Will he get there? I doubt it, he is one Saint I would love to see in the HOF.

On a side note....

Good Lord can you just imagine what it would have been like if Barry didn't retire? I don't care what anyone says Barry is the greatest RB of all time, and I loved "Sweetness".

I share that sentiment Sapper... absolutely the best running back of all time in my book.
