Just what we all need: Power Rankings!

Here are two from Yahoo! Sports:

By Jason Cole and Charles Robinson

July 23, 2007

Every Tuesday during the regular season, Yahoo! Sports NFL writers Jason Cole and Charles Robinson rank every team and provide some analysis. Here's how they rank the teams going into training camp.

Robinson rankings
1. San Diego Chargers
2. New England Patriots
3. New Orleans Saints
4. Indianapolis Colts
5. Chicago Bears
6. Baltimore Ravens
7. Cincinnati Bengals
8. Dallas Cowboys
9. Denver Broncos
10. New York Jets
11. Jacksonville Jaguars
12. Philadelphia Eagles
15. Bucs
16. Panthers
26. Falcons

Robinson: New England's got the talent to be in the top spot, but there's no guarantee Randy Moss, Donte' Stallworth and Kelley Washington won't undermine the chemistry on offense. Starting Indianapolis in the No. 4 spot may not seem sensible, but the Colts have pressing defensive questions after losing their starting cornerbacks and a playmaking linebacker in Cato June.

TOP 12
Cole rankings
1. San Diego Chargers
2. New England Patriots
3. Indianapolis Colts
4. Baltimore Ravens
5. Chicago Bears
6. New Orleans Saints
7. Philadelphia Eagles
8. Cincinnati Bengals
9. Denver Broncos
10. Jacksonville Jaguars
11. New York Jets
12. Seattle Seahawks
22. Panthers
28. Bucs
31. Falcons

Cole: I can't wait until all the Patriots fans tell me how stupid I am for putting the Chargers in the top spot. Why not Colts fans, you say? Indy fans are way too milquetoast to get in anybody's face. More telling is the fact that AFC teams occupy eight of the top 11 spots. That's a pretty strong eight and just about any one of them could beat the best the NFC has to offer.

I listed the rest of the division. Here's the link if you want the full breakdown

GEEZ what the hell does these rankings mean? NOTHING. Someone sits down and ranks the team based on whatever they think. We haven't played a game yet and we shouldn't waste our time with these stupid BS rankings. WINS and LOSES that what matters. Don't waste your time with reading crap like this... doesn't matter, what everyone could be doing is studying and getting ready for your fantasy football drafts.

If I didn't know better, I'd say you had a thing against Power Rankings.

I think most people realize that these are meaningless - as shown by the two guys ranking the Saints 3rd and 6th in the same article - but, personally, I enjoy them if for no other reason than in 27 years, I've never seen the Saints ranked that high going into the season.

I read them for fun... never took them to seriously though. We could be ranked 1st or 15th on there and it wouldn't matter to me.
