We should probably worry less based on some things we learned today abou future opponents

4 out 6 NFC playoff teams lost, including two 'elites' to two AFC elites

TB and ATL are awful. Who knows about Carolina- STL didn't show much

Hou had a good game, but KC is the leader in the John David Booty sweepstakes

Jax and Tenn should be wins

Bottom line, we are still looking at 11-12 wins

Re: Nfc

Not sure if we should put a lot of stock in a team's performance in week 1. By that logic we are toast for the year. I'd bet a lot of teams will clean up their acts in future weeks, just as I expect the boys in black and gold will.

But it's nice to see that Rex Grossman hasn't changed...

Re: Nfc

The Saints will bounce back, the good news is that the Bucs and Falcons also lost today so the Panthers are the only team in the NFC South one up on us.
I agree, the Falcons and the Bucs looked terrible, but then again so did we but we played a much better team than the Bucs played today, it's week one, time will tell who makes the correct adjustments this week improving their team..
IMO Sean Payton will have his team ready this coming Sunday going against the Bucs, on paper the Saints the better team of the two...
1-1 I say!!!

Rest In Peace JoeSam, thanks for everything my friend.

Re: Nfc

i think we will still make the playoffs , but worrying about the other teams and how they looked today doesnt help the fact that we were uglier than crap. those other teams could be the worst in the league but it doesnt help us if we cant play better ourselves.

I thought sure the Rams were going to beat the Panthers.

Re: Nfc

I hate this NFC/AFC disparity. Come on Saints, start beating some AFC teams to restore some dignity to the conference, much less our team.

The only AFC team I recall beating last year was the Browns, narrowly. And they were bottom of the barrel as far as AFC goes.

Of our 10-6 record

6 losses: Ravens, Bengals, Steelers, Redskins, Carolina(2), Chicago.

One of the Carolina losses was a garbage loss that didn't count. Go back and look at the turnovers in those AFC games with though defenses. Now was the Saints defense responsible for those turnovers? No, it was the offense offering up the ball freely to the other team. Therefore, it was our offense that lost us those games, and will lose those games against physical defenses - unless we improve our offensive line play. You can quote me on that.

That was 2006

2007, we're 0-1 already against AFC teams. And don't give me this, "oh they're defending super bowl champions". They lost half their team, and still managed to destroy our fragile offense...why? I'm convinced that it is a mixture of playcalling and poor play against physical defenses.

Re: Nfc

KC is in the lead to trade the #1 pick.
Oakland and Cleveland should be strong contenders for the #1. With McFadden there it almost makes you want to tank the season. ALMOST. He would be great in Cleveland. Followed by WRs and OL picks

They don't need McFadden (LJ), but they do need Booty, or Brohm, or Brennan THIS year

and Arkansas hasn't fared too well against USC the past couple of years, sooooie or not, and Mustain transferred

Re: Nfc

Well, once LJ's knee goes flying into the stands in the third game of the season, we'll see what the chiefs need. There's no way he can carry the ball over 400 times again.

(yes, Hagan, that's why I wanted to make the Manning for LJ trade in the keeper league, but you knew that already, right?)
