If he's first pick in the draft isn't an OL or DORSEY. Then yes he is a one year wonder. I think he should be fired or kept depending on that first pick in this coming draft.

I don't think his job is or should be on the line based on the draft. A lot of guys have input into the draft and we all know that it turns into a total crap-shoot by the tenth pick or so. I think there are enough positions of need out there to almost be able to take the BPA. In addition to OL and DT, I would say that LB is a huge area of need as well as CB, FS and even RB. Basically, don't draft a QB or a WR and you're cool. If Grant and Smith get their shiz together, then I'd throw DE on that list, too.

As for Payton, I don't think he's a one-year-wonder. I think he and the team believed their own hype and forgot that they had to earn the wins. I really hope they use this bye to get back to basics and start implementing a game plan instead of this using the play action to set up the reverse crap. Now, if they come out flat and totally ineffective again this week...it's time to put them on notice. I think Payton needs to call Tuna for some advice about getting tough.

I know right now there are too many issues to even try to address with the Saints. One thing that would go a long way is a dominating LB, preferably a MLB. I don't think Payton is a one year wonder, I think he is having to go through an adjustment period. It's going to be interesting to see how the Saints respond over the next few weeks. More importantly, for the sake of Payton's coaching career, I want to see if he is able to keep the team together. It is almost to a point, well at least a few more games, when guys start to give up. If he can find a way to avoid guys giving up, then Payton should have a nice run at it for many years.
