49ers cut LB Smith

This guys seems like a tackling machine as well. I say we make a run at him.
His only sin was losing his spot to Patrick Willis. Willis is only the best LB in the NFL now.

Seriously?? An 11 yr pro (old)

who has been part of the last 5 loosing seasons in San Fran

and was slowly being phased out. No wonder they drafted Willis. Not to mention his eye surgery last year...... I say stay away!

Hard nosed football player... he provides a quick fix but still doesn't change the fact we need young talented blood at the position. He's probably only good for another year or so. At worst he'll provide valuable depth and leadership.

Man, i am tired of settling for average in free agency, i want Lance Briggs for crying out loud.!!!!!!

Guys like Smith make sense. The salary number should not be an issue, and he's a guy that can still play another couple of years until the next generation is ready to step in.

Thought that is why we brought in Brian at LB. Choice one of the two but not both, unless we are going to do the pats LB type of rotation.
