Patience doesn't work in the NFL any more. By the time you patiently build your well oiled machine half of it has moved on via free agency. This isn't 1967. You win by being aggressive. If you have a glaring weakness like The Rams first championship team did with its defense you make the personell changes to fix it. Like they did! The next year thier defense improved light years. In one year.

The only reason some franchises are allways in the hunt and some aren't is because the organisation is determined to stay ahead of the pack. The most important part of the of course team is the coaching staff but even the best coach needs the support of an aggressive and talented organisation.

I think the Saints have the coaches but I wonder about the rest organisation. You just don't see the team picking up the free agents that we fans drool about during the offseason. Yet it seems like every time I check up on the team they've lost another star.
