Hot off the heels of a loss in their first preseason game as defending champs, the New Orleans Saints focused on some of the fundamentals in their first practice Saturday morning.
Coach Sean Payton was rumored to lay down the law on his team after a sloppy performance on Thursday night against the New England Patriots. That wasn't the case though, at least not yet.
"You've got to be mindful. We're 48 hours removed from the game so I don't think it's real wise to come really a day and a half from when we played that game and start right off the bat. We'll have a physical week, certainly we have another team coming in and we'll continue to place the emphasis on the fundamentals. Some of the things we didn't do as well Thursday night."
Payton of course is speaking of the Houston Texans who will be in town this week to practice with the Saints in preparation for Saturday night's game.
