Negative Vibes Abound

I don't like what I am feeling. Our two wins have not been pretty, they are not like last year, maybe we are spoiled. Games like last night good teams lose and great teams win them. Having said that I was on the B&G chat during the game last night and just reading some posts in the forum I am seeing and feeling negative vibes creeping into our house. I don't know if iot is bandwagoneers or what but we can't give up on them because of a couplae of close games. We have got to keep the faith and believe. We are the Who Dat Nation~'nuff said!

Some are bandwagoneers, others are DRAMA QUEENS.

I can tell you I've never given up on our team and never will.

TheOak 09-21-2010 12:07 PM

This is how I look at it....

Eternal Optimist: Last year we came out of the blocks looking stellar and then later in the season slowed down and had a few nail biters towards the end, with a few losses.

This year we are having our nail biters in the beginning (winning them). That way we can bring it all together and peak towards the playoffs.

Just a reversal of our performance last season.

Final Outcome the same. Super Bowl Champs!

breesfan27 09-21-2010 12:21 PM

Bandwagoners jump ship at the first sign of water.

Die-Hards grab a bucket.

(If that makes any sense :fanclub:)

saintfan 09-21-2010 12:27 PM

I believe at some point last night I posed something like, "we are getting our asses handed to us." We were. San Francisco showed up and all but dominated our offensive and defensive lines. Clearly they are a good team. I hope this doesn't reflect on me as a band-wagoner but rather as someone who saw another team take it to us and good.

Still, I subscribe to what Steve Young said after the game because I was thinking the same thing. These are the kinds of games we used to lose. We now have the ability to win ugly, and last night was an ugly win.

So it's still a win, and I'll take it, but it's pretty clear we're going to have to score 25+ PPG on most Sunday's. Our Run D sucked. Our tacking sucked. Our Pass and Run blocking sucked. Period. We have much to fix.

Not always BF27...some die hards don't grab a bucket...they grab a beer. HA!!

RaginCajun83 09-21-2010 12:32 PM

There were points in the game last night when i had WTF moments just have to adjust to being the hunted now

TheOak 09-21-2010 12:32 PM

And some shove what they have in any hole just to stop the leak... LOL

DblBogey 09-21-2010 12:36 PM

I'm not pointing finers at anyone in particular . . . you know who you are. I'm just saying check your faith, in the Saints, at the door before entering the House of the Who Dat Nation. If it is shaky then maybe you need not enter!

Rugby Saint II 09-21-2010 12:37 PM

I've had some questions but never any doubts. We have started this season off with back to back wins. That's the same way we started last year. There is room for improvement and we can expect to see it this coming week against Atlanta. Payton will work on the few problems that we have and he will fix them. Because this team is well motivated and well coached the Saints again found a way to win on Monday night. Identifying the problems and correcting them is what makes Sean Payton such a brilliant coach.

As good as that drive was for San Francisco, they executed it poorly in the end. P Manning would not have left 10 seconds on that clock. Believe that. Alex and company left us with over a minute.

HouYat 09-21-2010 12:44 PM

No panic here.....Sure we have some problems to fix, but so does everybody else. The difference is that we are still able to Win in spite of our problems. Bottom line, I don't care if we win ugly, it still counts as a Win. The NFL will still put a W up for us. Remember the days when we weren't able to do that?

dizzle88 09-21-2010 12:46 PM

I had some questions on why we couldn't execute the way we had hoped, and why we were particularly off on D on the niners last drive. Soon as they left brees 1:19 on the clock i knew we had the best shot. Still had faith all the way through!!

Glad you're not pointing fingers, because nobody here that I'm aware of warrants it. I check my faith every Sunday when I skip church to watch the Saints, and I've suffered through much more shaky games than the one we watched last night. I have been and continue to be eternally optimistic about my Saints, but I can sure as hell call a spade a spade. We were owned on both sides of the ball last night. That is no revelation, and saying so doesn't lessen my devotion to this team, or anyone else's for that matter.

Cruize 09-21-2010 12:59 PM

I see alot of honest opinions and some simple criticisms of everyone here's favorite team, the Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints. The Saints are not and will not be great defensively. The Saints offense will not be perfect all season long. The Saints coach will make a decision or two that isn't by the book. It is what it is. And what it is right now is 2-0. TWO DAT!

:praise:

Yep, calling it like you see it has nothing at all to do with being a "bandwagon" fan.

Our defense got their teeth kicked in last night. That was obvious to anyone who watched.

exiled 09-21-2010 01:05 PM

are you kidding me? WE ARE BACK TO BACK 2-0.
Ill take an ugly win.
i rmember alot of ugly seasons.
2 day baby.

darstep 09-21-2010 01:18 PM

We can't keep rolling the dice and coming up UGLY! Teams are NOT going to hand us the ball 4 times each week. Yea, I've heard the "we CAUSED those turnovers" argument, and that creek is about to run dry. B&G fans aren't jumping ship or giving up; we would rather be sippin tea than try to bail with a rusty bucket. We've looked better than this and perhaps we are spoiled. I like to think that we've seen how the game should be played and now we expect a certain level of proficiency. I like how the Superbowl felt, and never want to go back to the If I coulda woulda shoulda days ever again. If Payton would take my calls, I'ld tell him directly. But for now you guys/gals will have to do. We're at 2-0 and have a lot of work to do and a lot of obsticles to overcome. UGLY wins are not going to get us there.

We looked like crap. We really did. Our Defense looked like that of 2008, and made Smith look like a pro bowl qb. I will ***** when my team is not performing up to its potential. Does that mean I do not support them or am giving up on them? NO it doesnt. I will always state the obvious, and it is obvious we are struggling. I am sorry, but this team has to much talent with personnell and coaching to play like this, and just because I say so does not mean I am a bandwaggoner or giving up on my team. I am thankful for the win, but in the heat of the moment I will pop off when we are playing like garbage like we were last night. Do I believe it can and will be corrected? Yes. As someone else said we are getting our rough patch out of the way early so we can click down the stretch. I do believe the outcome of the season will still be the same, but the fact remains we played like crap last night.

This.

What I found most encouraging about the win last night was that Payton did not look like the winning coach at the presser. He looked pissed off.

There will be improvements or there will be changes.

I'm hoping Atlanta is the game we get back to our A-game, because we'll freakin' annihilate them.

ATTENTION

I'm going to clarify a few things about what DblBogey said in the original post so this thread doesn't fly off course.

Last night we had a good croud in LIVE chat for the game.

Some would jump in to LIVE to chime in with negatives like "chicken little the sky is falling" type stuff. Sometimes it was a joke, others it was just to stir up the pot in there.

The mood got tense in LIVE chat a few times.

No one is naming names or getting called out.

DblBogey is not calling people out nor is he saying anyone is a bandwagon fan for feeling nervous or having doubts at times.

Last week the 49ers got beat by the Seahawks, this week the seahawks get beat by the Broncos. Last week the Broncos got beat by the Jaguars, this week the Jaguars got beat by the Chargers. Last week the Chargers got beat by the Chiefs, this week the Chiefs squeaked by the Browns. This week the Patriots got beat by the Jets, the Bengals beat the Ravens. Last week the Patriots beat the Bengals, and the Jets got beat by the Ravens. I can continue; but come on people, this is the NFL. All the teams can win games; the key in the NFL is consistency; and quite frankly the Saints are 2-0. Did our offense play as spectacular as you all hoped it would.... probably not. Still, we won and found a way.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

Seems I missed out on the live chat action. I was too busy cussing up a storm on twitter.

Hey! We are 2-0. That looks good to me!

Hope Reggie mends quickly, what a week he has had!

GEAUX SAINTS!

I'll say it again. We got our asses handed to us last night. Period. Hopefully it will be a wake up call. Yes, the better team won because we have learned how to win those games, but if the 49ers had a clue we'd be 1-1 right now.

SapperSaint 09-21-2010 03:20 PM

Our first three games last year were push overs, guys.

This year, our first four are tough. Two of which are division rivals.

Last year; as far as doom and gloom go; Miami, ST LOUIS (nail biter) and Washington were all near losses. Intestinal fortitude and a little bit of luck bouncing our way won those games for us.

If you really lived through the dreadful years of the Saints.....this ain't nuthin'!

cajun911 09-21-2010 03:33 PM

Well the bottom line is that we won. San Fransisco played a great game(minus the turnovers), in their house on Monday night. I have to tip my hat to them their defense did a good job as well as their offense. But we still weathered the storm and pulled off a victory. I for one am not concerned about the team right now. I am disappointed we lost Reggie though which could cause some problems. T Yes I think we got outplayed in some areas but we didn't make nearly as many mistakes as the 49ers which is what good teams do. he fair weather fans will start jumping ship though just because we're not winning by 25 points. I know so because I work with a couple guys who are already downing the team.Well good reddens to them.

CheramieIII 09-21-2010 03:42 PM

Everyone has to admit that a true Saints fan will say things that they don't really mean about the Saints but they always come back around. What we can't do is over analyze everything that is said. We've been talking trash about OUR Saints for 44 years but there are no fans like us because we speak our minds.

LivnaLieTimay 09-21-2010 04:04 PM

I was on the live chat for the first time in a while last night and it was fun. It was a nail-biter and when you get games like that tension runs high. I know I would get frustrated and point out poor tackling by the defense or lack of execution by offense on key series but I never gave up and got excited when we made plays, and I think that was how most of the crowd was. There were some who thought we were getting lucky with some turnovers and thought the game was over when SF converted on that last drive but that was a small group. We have a good team and it isn't going to be an easy road but I believe in these guys. We are mentally tough and winning games when you don't play that well is something great teams do.

Overall, I thought the live chat was a good time and I plan on jumping on again the next time I can watch the game at home and not have to go to a bar (which unfortunately probably won't be until we play the steelers on MNF).

Oh I think we're definitely spoiled from last year in part. But I don't understand a lot of frustration after a win. A win is a win. I seem to remember the Patriot dynasty of the early 2000s won a lot of ugly games. It's not always a Rose Garden, especially when you're the defending Champions.

The niners definately showed up to play.I'm not one to go into panic mode just because the team is not where we expect them to be;tough start to a season but at least we aren't playing the lesser caliber teams leaving the media to rant and rave.I've always rode it out thru the highs and lows no matter the situation.Your opinion may be Repete's stuck in stupid, but I see it as no difference from the old days when our faith was tested week in week out.Another tough one next week but just as always...BRING EM' ON:bng:

This entire post pretty much sums up what a crazy season it has been in the NFL....and we are only two games into it. It's got the potential to be even more insane before it's over with.

arsaint 09-21-2010 10:34 PM

Sign me up for 10-12 more wins like this in the regular season and three in the postseason and I'll be a happy camper.

Probably a little more gray hair, but happy...

newshound 09-22-2010 01:25 AM

have not posted in forever but that game gave me a heart attack last night BUT our WHO DATS! pulled it off. Saw tons of games like that last year. Plan to be here more. I miss my BnG brothers and sisters :)

Saint_LB 09-22-2010 05:11 AM

If you thought Monday night was ugly, then I can only conclude that you are only about 14 or so...because you haven't ever seen ugly if you think that was ugly. It was beautiful...because it ended with a W.

It's one thing to listen to what S Young was talking about...it's quite another to have lived through it. He took the reins from Montana and continued to do what Montana had already done to us for about a decade.

The only thing that upset me about Monday night was that my prediction of 34-14 did not materialize...but there was never any doubt in my mind that this team was gonna win. The teams of the 20th century would have found a way to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory.
