Nicks is a RFA and is a first round tender. Until he signs his tender, a team can have him for a 1st and a 3rd. If someone were to offer this do we take it?

Danno 07-29-2011 11:06 PM

I'd put a dead horse's head in their bed.

That would prove an interesting scenario...

I'm not sure you tempt fate as the Saints have had Lady Luck on their side the past few years in later rounds...

jcp026 07-30-2011 12:07 AM

That's tough. He's going to get a huge pay day next season. Can we afford it?

MatthewT 07-30-2011 12:55 AM

I would say no. Guards are relatively easy to find, but dominate ones like Nicks are very rare. With the window of opportunity for the Saints being now, I would believe the Saints will do everything in their power to keep him around.

Crusader 07-30-2011 02:36 AM

Hell to the NO!!! Nicks is a Faneca type of player at guard that comes around very seldom. The interior line i very important too keep our run game going and Brees upright. Pay the man and quit talking this nonsense.

SAINT_MICHAEL 07-30-2011 03:08 AM

Tough question for Loomis to answer. As long as his contract would not prohibit a Drew extension, I'd say no. I'd keep him. His play has been worth what most #1 and 3 picks have contributed.

CantonLegend 07-30-2011 03:17 AM

how is this a serious question? why does everybody wanna screw around with our Oline

+1

You're absolutely right. People talk about chemistry between QB and WRs but thats hogwash compared to the chemistry on the O-line.

Dude, relax. He didn't say "Let's screw with our offensive line!". He presented a real scenario that might occur. Overall, most agree he is worth the #1 and #3 pic refund

spkb25 07-30-2011 06:14 AM

Absolutely not. I don't think there is any way he leaves, unless he is unreasonable. He is a massive part of our success. We need to keep those big boys on the inside

Cruize 07-30-2011 08:02 AM

When you get an elite player, you do your best to keep him. In this shortened offseason, with no suitable replacement in the organization, and having a team ready for a Super Bowl run, no, you don't listen to any offers. Although, I think the UDFA G Johnson from Florida will make the roster and has the skills.

Jack Vegas 07-30-2011 08:23 AM

If it were some other year, yes maybe you consider it.

But not this year. Too much at stake. We're looking at another team along the lines of the 09 squad. Let's not mess with it too much.

I'm going with a "No" on this, but just barely.

QBREES9 07-30-2011 08:42 AM

No !!! No NO

sure doesnt seem like that. seems like most understand the value of proven talent over 2 more chances to gamble on rookies

Couldn't agree more. QB protection, especially OUR QB, should come first. Agreed, that so long as it doesn't interfere with Drews contract, this is a must have.

agree with you until it comes to the right side of the line....lol. just kidding. Trading Nicks would be almost as stupid as the ricky williams draft

I don't think anyone would do it. Not only is it a 1st and 3rd, they're going to have to fork out a 60 million dollar extension for him. That's some heavy compensation.

I'm glad he's going to be a Saint for a very long time.

TheDeuce 07-30-2011 06:09 PM

If somebody gave you a 1st and 3rd round pick for Jabari Greer would you take it?

woody 07-30-2011 06:25 PM

No way, we know what we've got with Nicks, keep the sure thing.

I love Jabari Greer. He rated out as one of the top cornerbacks in the league when healthy. He was hurt last year and it hurt his performance. To top that off, we have him signed on a really good deal.

Now with that said, 1st and 3rd? I would be tempted to take such a deal... especially if I felt Robinson was ready to take over. I also think that if we were to move him, we'd have something else up our sleeve via free agency or a trade.

But in the end, why would anyone give us a 1st and 3rd for Greer?

The same reason somebody would give a 1st and 3rd for an offensive guard. NO REASON. Come on people.

nicebush25 07-31-2011 05:08 PM

If it were the panthers or the bills picks I say yes. Nicks is due for a huge payday and flip side rookies dont get paid nearly as much after the new CBA was signed.

I wouldn't think twice.

This tread is way to stupid for me to post an intelligent comment.
