Since the Saints aren't in the playoffs, again, I thought I'd go look at a mock draft or two since we won't have a lot else to talk about for a while.

This one had some interesting picks. http://www.nfldraftblitz.com/mock_draft.htm

My only ground rule is none of the, "No way the CB from Southeast Idaho State finishing school for young ladies makes it out of the 2nd round, much less the second day." I just hate that.

Anyway, here are the Saints projected picks. I don't agree with them because it looks like Haslett will still be around, so we'll be picking someone from Georgia and a DT, maybe the same player, but we will take both of those in the first four picks.

18.New Orleans Saints
PICK: Chris Gamble, CB, Ohio State

Gamble has the athletic ability to be a top CB. The Saints take the
potential over the sure thing in Derrick Strait. The Saints have an aging
group of CB’s and none of them have shut down ability. Gamble does and
though he’s raw, could become the top flight CB the Saints have been looking
for.

48.New Orleans Saints
PICK: JP Losman, QB, Tulane

Let the controvery begin. Local boy Losman has a world of talent, but then
again so does Aaron Brooks. What’s clear though is that the Saints and their
fans are beginning to tire of Brooks and might not have much more time to
turn it around. So they bypass some needs and take out a little insurance
policy.

60.New Orleans Saints (via St. Louis)
PICK: Dontarrious Thomas, OLB, Auburn

With their second 2nd, the Saints get Thomas. It’s unclear whether Sedrick
Hodge will be back and both Hodge and Derrick Rodgers have struggled to meet
expectations.

81.New Orleans Saints
PICK: Ernest Wilford, WR, Virginia Tech

Saints get a big target for Aaron Brooks.

I\'ve got no problem with any of those picks, although the odds of Haslett and Co. using a 2nd round pick for a third string QB FROM THE STATE seems about as unlikely as them dealing Brooks to the Panthers to get Delhomme back.

I\'ll say this - if we draft an O-lineman and he\'s not a true tackle I\'m going to go apesh!t. We\'ve got about 47 inside linemen and not tackles... well Gandy, but what\'s he pushing? 60?

And I\'ll be right there, also in monkey-mode. Although the idea of Mark Clayton in the 2nd round is intriguing...

Linebacker! Linebacker! Linebacker!

I\'d be tickled black and gold to see Thomas out of Auburn fall to us in the second. I would also love to see us nab Rod Davis out of Southern Miss.

I think that Haslett should be limited to one offensive/defensive lineman this year (no higher than third round). Maybe we could put one of those shock-collars around his neck... :o

Maybe we could just put a shock collar on his neck anyway. Buzz the cr@p out of him when he calls a 0 hole dive on 3rd and 1. ;)
