Randall "Blue" Gay

I think we miss him back there along with Sharper..i know were going with youth and that's great..but he wasn't that bad..When will Johnny Patrick be back?...i think P.Rob will continue to get picked on...maybe Tracy can get back to that side ..this has me concerned...even if the D-Line gets some pressure our DBs have to make a play on the ball sometimes....whats y'all s thoughts..:D

Johnny Patrick looked good in preseason and looks like he could really contribute when back from injury. I saw him playing aggresive and with high energy which our defense desperatley needs.

I "still" think we are too short!
We are now in the powder puff, please don't touch the receiver league.
We will get lot's of greif from the officials only because it looks like our guys are climbing a tree when the balls in the air. 1st and 10's, 1st and goals, and fades to the corner just because...
If receivers have time to make a double moves on us, and QB's have time to wait on a double move, we are toast anyway.

I think you might have something there, but I don't believe that it's as simple as that at the end of the day.

All of the Saints' CBs are listed as 5-11, which isn't tall by any measure known to me, but, on the other hand, Darrelle Revis is also listed as 5-11 and it doesn't seem to hinder him from successfully covering and shutting down the best WRs in the league each and every night.

I still think that Greer, Porter, and Robinson are above average when it comes to the NFL CBs, and, furthermore, I believe Robinson will develop into the No 1 CB for this team within the next two seasons (hopefully forming a shutdown tandem with Patrick). I'm inclined to think that it might not just be about the players themselves - somebody already brought up the point about the change in the secondary coaching - but that it might have more to do with the way the coverage schemes and game plans are drawn up, because it seems to me that neither of those are putting the Saints' CBs in the best possible situation to succeed in, which coaching is ultimately about.

I think you are dead accurate. I also think even just a LITTLE pressure by our DLINE would help. :brood:

Yeah the D-Line is getting no pressure....the quarterback is just sitting back and being patient. I hope the defense comes ready to play sunday.

And this is the problem; I posted earlier that no defensive linemen had their hand up except Ellis on one play; is Tom Johnson hurt because he was in beast mode during the preseason along with King and as for King I saw him just get pushed around against the Packers, I’d like to see what Johnson can do and if he pans out and big Will returns than we may see better 2ndary play

Rugby Saint II 09-14-2011 01:18 PM

We've loaded up at the position for now. If someone goes down and Gay is still available I say why not?

biloxi-indian 09-14-2011 01:20 PM

Playing 10 yards off the receiver and moving backwards prior to the snap could be a problem. Not to mention tackling the receiver once the pass is caught!

You can have all the push from the DL or "exotic blitzes" one wants, but a quick out pass will net at least 5 to 6 yds!

Danno 09-14-2011 01:30 PM

What does Randall "Blue" Gay mean?

Johnson hurt his calf muscle and left the game against SF at about 12 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. There hasn't been any official prediction of how long he's out, but I guess it shouldn't be too long since he is on the active roster and not the IR.

Our DBs were 10 yards off the receiver and not getting their heads turned around..that has nothing to do with D -Line pressure...they were getting beat with the quick passes as well...now with that said ..we need PRESSURE this week or i hate say it Cuntler will eat them alive to..The falqueens blitzed him 37% of the time last week and he was able to get the ball out for the most part..We need pressure without having to blitz like crazy ..Memo to our D-Line ..please play as you were hyped up to be..Rogers get with it man..your better than this:bng:

Mardigras9 09-14-2011 03:05 PM

They are coming after Robinson, bank on it. Have to stop Forte, simple as that.

If the case, then I sure hope the coaching staff has overtime work planned on the tackling dummies!

Is it possible for one of the LB's or DB's to miss a tackling dummy? :))

Sarcasm off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have mentioned this a few times. Having Smith back for week three should help. :D

You know, back when we were allowing these DB's to get away, like Gay, I was left scratching my head.

I just assumed we knew what we were doing.

Robinson was a GREAT backup last year and I think he will learn really fast. I'm predicting a pick+6 Sunday to his side.

Just waiting for the Jello to set up can sometimes be a long wait. I know, let's put it in the freezer!!
