How about this analysis to mediate the Arguement ?

Let’s face it; Aaron Brooks is unquestionably more physically gifted than Jake Delhomme. But, as it seems with several other personnel decisions that Haslett/Loomis have made, they tend to become more enamored by athletes than by football players.

It was a simpler way of putting the truth

Brooks is an athlete , could play basketball , could be a receiver in the N.F.L. and brings the athleticism to the quarterbacking position in New Orleans .

Delhomme is a football player and a quarterback . He is not going to razzle and dazzle you with feats of atleticism , he is simply going to execute the play by design and drive the ball down your throat .

A football team that relys on the feats of a star to win , are one helmet blow away from losing a season ala the Falcons .

A football team that relys on the concept that there are no I\'s in team and it is about properly executing the plays as a team and winning as a team has a little more room for error .

All this talk of \"smarts\" being more inmortant than \"atleticism\" is ridiculous. For the record, it takes BOTH. However, if I had to choose one or the other, I would choose \"athleticism.\"

Give me 11-track stars against 11-members of the \"debate team\" and let\'s see who wins. Anyone care to take that bet? There are all these geniuses out there who think this game is so complicated, when it\'s really not. What it boils down to is EXCECUTION. Of course, you can\'t have \"brain dead\" people out there, but they hardly need to be the smartest folks in the world.

All football intelligence requires is a player that is able to memorize a playbook. Then it boils down to \"football instincts.\" You can be the smartest player in the world and have good football insticts, and still not make it to NFL, yet alone be a great player. There\'s this little thing called \"athletcism\" that some folks like Randy Moss have that REALLY makes a big difference. You can teach Randy Moss to run routes better, run out of bounds to kill the clock, etc, etc,.. But you can\'t teach the \"athleticsm.\" NOPE!!

Coaching is a very important to winning in the NFL. However, it\'s the players that win and lose games most of the time. Great coaches come and go.(They usually go when they lose the great players they once have.) Tom Landry, Dan Reeves, Mike Shannahan, Jimmy Johnson, were all considered coaching geniues at one time. But, they don\'t look like genisuses anymore. Why? Because this isn\'t \"rocket science\" This is a game that is determined by \"atleticism\" FISRT and once that is gone, you are left with a below average team.

Everybody in this city needs to get over it. Aaron Brooks is your quarterback. Jake Delhomme is the quarterback of the Carolina Panthers. All of these arguments are compleyely absurd. Stop embracing him and let it go. :exclam:

Is this Aaron’s fault? No, and true Saints’ fans should rally around this kid, because like it or not, he’s going to be the starter at least one more season and Delhomme isn’t coming back anytime soon. I don’t think it is fair to Brooks to constantly compare him to Delhomme simply for the fact that Delhomme is obviously playing for a better-run franchise. Kerry Collins, a former Saint quarterback, made it to the Super Bowl three years ago, but I don’t know anyone who would take Collins over Brooks. The bottom line is if Aaron Brooks were the quarterback in Carolina and Jake Delhomme was the quarterback in New Orleans, Carolina would still be in the Super Bowl this season.

I don\'t think it\'s a question of Delhomme vs. Brooks, I think it\'s more of a question of being satisfied with the\"\'status quo.\" The status quo being the same hopes and dreams dashed every year after such hype about one thing or another. It\'s just Delhomme is a former Saint who made a great decision at just the right time and it paid off. And like most other former Saints who have given me no reason to hate him, (ala Turley) I will pull for him in the Superbowl just like I would\'ve for Roaf if K.C. would\'ve went. There\'s a lot of dissatisfied Saint\'s fans because of ALL the years we have seen come and go and still here we are, at home, *****ing about what went wrong. So I guess every former Saint that makes good is like adding insult to injury. Through and through we all love the Saints but we will not all agree on any one or more reasons why we seem to suck with what seems the talent to win.
