The Irsay management team have gone all in on Manning, giving him a $100 million contract and leaving no room for much else. That team has no depth, no balance and no future. It will be 3-5 years before they can claim enough parts, train enough and establish an identity that can compete at a playoff level.

I'm not going to say that Brees isn't worth $100 million. I am saying we got a huge look through the crystal ball at what our future will be. Brees doesnt even need to get injured, the impending rot will infuse the core and we will be what we have spent 44 years trying to shed.

We MUST find the next Brees and set him up for success. We cannot be certain of avoiding the colts fate, but we have to not repeat their colossal failure to contingency plan. We must lobby Saints management not to go all in on one player. There is NO excuse given the horrifying display last night

I like Chase Daniel. I think he has a future here as a possible successor to Drew down the road. On that note, I've been advocating a quarterback selection with a mid to high round pick to develop so we don't put all our eggs in one basket. The one thing I don't agree on is that we're one injury away from being the Colts. We have more depth and talent than they do. They've historically over the past decade had a average offensive line and a terrible interior line on the defensive side of the ball(where football games are won). Their vets are aging and we plenty of youth and athleticism on both sides sides. If Brees were to go down, I believe this team can hover around being a .500 team. The Colts are 0-7.

We are fairly young at most positions. C. Daniels could be the next best thing, he's being schooled by the best thing. The O- line will get 1-2 players younger next year so will the D, my concern is DT and recievers, we have the best recievers in the league, but Payton will always want new toys. A young DT will be a must, I wish we got one last year for S.Rodgers to teach. Got to reload or it's back to the old days,I don't want to be there again.

Chase is improving a lot. I won't go out on a limb yet and call him a Drew Brees clone. However, I think Chase is far better then Curtis Painter!

We are two to three years from having to make this decision. For now Chase is good enough.

The other MAJOR difference between the Colts and the Saints, that cannot be under-estimated, is that the Colts philosophy to win relies entirely on a handful of highly paid and featured "star" players (Manning, Freeney, Brackett, Wayne etc), and then a large chunk of the rest of their whole team is pretty much comprised of undrafted free agents, low draft picks, nobodies, and marginal players at best. On the surface they look a little similar to the Saints, in that way, but there is a BIG difference in WHO they are as a team.

Most of the Colts' current problems aside from the QB position, especially their defensive problems, are really caused by poor coaching and by their front office's lack of good talent evaluation... We've all seen how Payton and Loomis can find incredible "diamonds in the rough," and then they coach and groom them up to being formidable NFL caliber players (Jimmy Graham, anyone?). The Colts may seem like they share a bit of that interest or emphasis on unsung talent, but they CLEARLY lack the coaching and front office vision required to find and nurture those really solid players, to complete the pieces of their team they need around their handful of anointed "stars." THAT is a huge difference.

Enjoy the ride, I say. Drew's future replacement probably has a cute girlfriend and his first car, and is probably playing ball in high school someplace.

Cots believe in getting in shoot outs.

With the Colts offense, they can force teams to throw to keep up with them and so they were able to get a pretty good pass rush to off set that.

Its kind of hard to do with Manning out.

Next year they will be the most improved team in the league, hand down.

Most teams would do anything to have the problem of having to pay their franchise QB 20 million a year.
