Ok so I did some research about our DC, the results will shock you! But they really should not.

Titans 97-2000
97 - 12th PTS, 22nd YDS, 9th in Takeaways
98 - 12th PTS, 16th YDS, 15th in Takeaways
99 - 15th PTS, 17th YDS, 2nd in Takeaways
00 - 2nd PTS, 1st YDS, 16th in Takeaways

Redskins 04-07
04 - 5th PTS, 3rd YDS, 20th in Takeaways
05 - 9th PTS, 9th YDS, 14th in Takeaways
06 - 27th PTS, 31 YDS, 23rd in Takeaways
07 - 11th PTS, 8th YDS, 21st in Takeaways

Jaguars 08
08 - 21st PTS, 17th YDS, 25th in Takeaways

Saints 09-10
09 - 20th PTS, 25th YDS, 3rd in Takeaways
10 - 7th PTS, 4th YDS, 23rd in Takeaways

So it seems Greg's defenses do very poorly in the take away area. He has only been in the top 10, 3 times (97,99,09). Between 10-20, Greg has only had it done 3 times. (98,00,2005) So in 12 years as a DC, he has only been in the top twenty's of Takeaways 6 times.

Greg has only been in the top 10 in PTS 4 times (00,04,05,10). Greg has only been in the top 10 in YDS 5 times (00,04,05,07,10).

Greg's AVG in points - 13th
Greg's AVG in yards - 14th
Greg's AVG in takeaways - 16th

So maybe Greg is the issue with the defense. His teams just cant seem to generate turnovers.

The stats for 2011 - 22nd PTS, 15th YDS, 25th in takeaways.

If Payton is willing to shed his salary to make sure we secure Williams' services, that's good enough for me.

I am not bashing the guy, under Greg the saints will be average. History shows this. Also getting takeaways will be like pulling teeth. Granted this year there have been some drops by DB's, but lets hope the season improves.

Also Sean did not want to fire Gibbs, who had a great first year in 2006 then stunk it up.

The thing is that the Saints' D does not need to be the best in the league in any category - they only need to be at least as good as the D on the other side of the field on any given Sunday.

The Saints' O should ultimately be the one to carry the team to its victories with Brees as the QB, while the D should just take care not to be the reason why they lost a given game.

GW's D philosophy is one of high risk/high reward, and while the stats may state that historically the risk has not payed off... it sure makes for some entertaining games! :popcorn:

What about his assistants? I.E. Line coach, LB coach, DB coach. As much as our line has sucked through the years, I'd like to say that person needs to go. Whoever is teaching these guy's how to tackle definitely needs to be canned.
