In one regard, this year’s team is keeping pace with the 2009 squad. The Saints are 4-0 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome this season. If they win against the Giants on Monday night, it will mark only the second time in history the team has started 5-0 at home. The other time, of course, was in 2009.

Playing to the camera. The Saints have won five straight Monday night games. They’ve played the Giants twice on Monday night and lost both. But those losses came before quarterback Drew Brees and coach Sean Payton arrived in 2006. Since then, the Saints are 7-2 on Monday night.

The Saints are coming off a week 11 bye following an impressive 26-23 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons on November 13.

The defense came up big on a key fourth-and-one play in overtime at the Atlanta 29 yard line, getting pressure up the middle from DT Shaun Rogers and DE Will Smith, which allowed S Malcolm Jenkins to stop RB Michael Turner as the Falcons turned the ball over on downs. That stop would lead to K John Kasay's 26 yard game-winning field goal to preserve the win for New Orleans.

The win carried on New Orleans' recent stretch of success in the month of November. Since 2008, New Orleans is an NFL-best 12-2 in November, including not having lost a contest in the month since 2008. The Saints will be looking to stay unbeaten in November for the third consecutive season.

The Giants have overcome a multitude of injuries and have posted a 6-4 record, holding a first place tie in the NFC East with the Dallas Cowboys. The Giants come into New Orleans following a 17-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday evening.

The Saints and Giants have met 25 times, with New York holding a 14-11 advantage. The Saints have won the two contests between the two clubs since Payton became head coach in 2006. The two clubs last met when the Saints defeated the Giants 48-27 in the Superdome on Oct. 18, 2009.
