Saints have no plans for cutting Vilma

Although the New Orleans Saints have lined up visits with several veteran middle linebackers this week, indications from league sources are that the team has no plans to release current middle linebacker Jonathan Vilma. The Saints are scheduled to host free agents David Hawthorne, Joe Mays and Curtis Lofton in the coming days.

Obviously plans could change. However, Vilma's exit is not a foregone conclusion, even though he is due $5.5 million in salary and bonuses and is recovering from an offseason knee surgery. Vilma, who turns 30 next month, just got off crutches last week.
