Saints fail to address biggest need by taking Smith

It’s no secret the Saints need help in the secondary. Everybody knows this just from watching highlights of the Saints getting beat deep time and time again. The addition of CB Jason Craft from the Jaguars provided a little bit of help, but with the 18th overall pick in the draft, the Saints were expected to get their shutdown corner of the future. And with Ohio State CB Chris Gamble sitting on the board — someone who is known for his quick hands, his leaping ability and his explosiveness — the move appeared to be a no-brainer. It seemed that Gamble would be a perfect fit for the Saints

Instead, they addressed one need that is non-existent — pass rusher.

My thoughts EXACTLY. Or, maybe, Venturi has developed a new defense that uses 3-defensive ends......
