Saints fail to address biggest need by taking Smith
By Ken Bikoff
April 24, 2004 It’s no secret the Saints need help in the secondary. Everybody knows this just from watching highlights of the Saints getting beat deep time and time again. The addition of CB Jason Craft from the Jaguars provided a little bit of help, but with the 18th overall pick in the draft, the Saints were expected to get their shutdown corner of the future. And with Ohio State CB Chris Gamble sitting on the board  someone who is known for his quick hands, his leaping ability and his explosiveness  the move appeared to be a no-brainer.
