Saints Defensive End Greg Romeus tears ACL

"Saints interim coach Joe Vitt revealed Thursday that second-year DE Greg Romeus tore his ACL during OTA practices.
Romeus tore his other ACL as a senior at Pitt and missed his entire rookie year while recovering from November, 2011 reconstructive surgery. At one point a big-time prospect in college, Romeus simply can't shake the injury bug. It's a fairly big loss for the Saints because they are so thin at defensive end. Greg Romeus tore the ACL and MCL in his non-surgically repaired knee, Vitt says.
Just read on another site, will try to find link and verify.

jcp026 06-13-2012 01:26 PM

Crusader 06-13-2012 04:16 PM

Man I feel for the kind. This sucks so bad for him.

lynwood 06-13-2012 04:48 PM

WhoDat!656 06-13-2012 05:24 PM

[QUOTE...We need Brees back NOW![/QUOTE]

Does Brees have a magical elixir that will prevent broken bones and torn ACLs?

Sucks for him AND us. We needed the depth at defensive end.

SUUUUCCCCCKKKKKKS

SmashMouth 06-13-2012 06:47 PM

That may just do it for him... can't contribute if you're always in the tub.

foreverfan 06-13-2012 07:00 PM

So who's available?

Danno 06-13-2012 07:37 PM

I think we're fine with Smith, Jordan, McBride, and Galette.

I don't think anyone was depending on Romeus anyway.

saintsfan1976 06-13-2012 08:14 PM

Depending on him? No.

Sure we're all in agreement that his potential under Spags was exciting

Don't forget about Martez

My concern with him is dropping back into coverage.

Braun? Yes. Brains? We don't know yet...

Brains and coverage are the least of my worries. He seems like an intelligent guy in every interview I've ever heard with him.

Being that he played MLB I suspect that his coverage skills are much better than most DE's.

Ashley 06-13-2012 10:31 PM

Damn I was so pumped when we drafted him. I was riding on his jock!
I wanted this kid to just explode on the field! I hate to say , it's all but over for him.

Marlboro Man 06-13-2012 10:55 PM

That sucks for Greg and the Saints and the fans. I think they'll stick with him. His potential is very high when he's healthy. If he gets hurt again next year, I think he's done.

QBREES9 06-13-2012 11:02 PM

Same here, I feel bad for him. You can't make the club if your in the tub. Good luck Greg. This kid did not suck. He was adam good football player.

Crusader 06-14-2012 01:32 AM

Time to get Charleston back in the mix. He is no worldbeater but just a real solid backup that will make little misstakes and every now and the come up with a big play.

Not a bad idea at all. Where is he? Is he available?

halloween 65 06-14-2012 10:12 AM

I hate this news, out of all the DE's I thought he could have been the best under Spags. Maybe we will try to keep him somehow.

Mardigras9 06-14-2012 10:29 AM

Wilson is gonna explode at that position this year, we'll be fine.

Probably selling furniture again...

As for Romeus, this sucks big time, and it might be a sign that his physique just doesn't have what it takes to be a professional contact sport athlete.

I was really looking forward to seeing him take the field in preseason like most of you, but I guess there's always 2013.
