I don't think so. I think they're waiting to see if these suspensions are upheld so they have more cap room to work with.

This thread so far gets my vote for stupid thread of the year.

No way do you ever part ways with an elite QB. Unless you're the Colts and you are able to get another that is younger to groom.

Sort of like when you have been getting a promotional deal and when that expires you have to pay the going price. I do believe if they really thought they could get away with it that they would. There will be an immediate fan reaction storm that they are not going to like at all and they are going to lose a lot of money long term if they don't get this done. They played their odds and they lost. Their best shot was right after 2010 but they chose to let Brees play out his contract and keep getting that entry price. Shows you that no matter how you feel about your employer/team they all look at you as a commodity and are going to do everything they can in every case to take a dollar from you no matter how productive you are.

You are correct. They are still at this point hoping for the most inexpensive way out...

As you point out, there is a lot more to this than just paying Drew. Both parties are between a rock and a hard spot... Drew is between the FT and trying to get a contract in a limited time frame. The front office is trying to balance paying drew, salary cap, and the fall out from not signing Drew. Let Drew walk, and see how much money the team loses in ticket sales, jersey sales, etc....

This has to play out.

There is a little more to the Colts move than just a new QB... The owners did an entire overhaul from the front office.. to coaching... down to the players.

The catch is how many draft picks turn into a Payton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, or Aaron Rogers for that matter... That's too big of a gamble in my opinion. They tanked an entire season for a first round QB and only two of the afore mentioned Super Elite QB's were a first round draft picks.

Out of those 4 only Manning was a 1-1.

agreed except last point....which is annoying given that I truly believe they are only inches apart but are still dragging....
