On the bright side of the moon (10 reasons)

1. Hartley made his field goal
2 .We kept our opponent from going over 40
3. Roby caught a pass
4. Brees broke 63% completion rate
5. Held a QB that threw for over 4000 yards last year to less than 260 yards passing.
6. 3rd Down efficiency was 53%
7. netted 486 total yards
8. Only 2 penalties
9. Did not lose a fumble
10. Thomas ran for 110 yards.

If the following statement rubs you raw, maybe you should take a breath and look at things tomorrow. Our offense is still on step with last year.

We lost but our offense is AS GOOD AS IT WAS LAST YEAR.

A new member "aintasinner" made a good point.

So I ask?

If the coin were flipped, and the Saints ran off after Katrina how would we feel? If they did nothing but 8itch, moan and cry to the media about their dome being in bad shape... how would we feel?

We owe them a little more loyalty.... no?

Haven't watched the game yet going to watch later but;

Held opponent under 40 - 35 points ain't that pretty

Brees turning the ball over like there's no tomorrow

And our D is shoddy, we haven't got any money to fix them due to 100 million dollar man

We need to fix this fast

Yes those are very good things to build on, were not done and are not out of this yet.
If we can hold on the passes, get td's instead of FG. Just imagine what if...

Also, Brees is still on track for Unitas' record unless I'm mistaken.

9-7. G-men took a girl that ugly to the dance and they STILL let them in!

We're not out of this thing yet, but boy I hope the D figures out Spags scheme a little faster, they're definitely making me nervous...

I am banking on more success against a less dynamic quarterback. They'll get it figured out

The record is 47; Brees is @ 44 with today's game!

Plus, this is Brees' 8th or 9th consecutive 300+yd passing game! Another NFL record!

A few points:

Brees was leading the league last year until week 7 if I remember correctly.

We still have around 6-7 mil I believe.

Now.... Not sure we are missing Payton as much as some believe.... I do think we are missing Loomis's magic with personnel.

Just sit tight. This team is still learning how not to loose without their coach. Good things will come our way. One way or antoher.

Re: On the bright side of the moon (10 reasons)

I only saw the game on Red Zone. Did drew have any turnovers other than the two INTs? The first was certainly his fault but it seems like the risk you take when you ask the QB to carry the team the way we're asking Drew to carry this team.

The second was definitely a bad decision as well but in that situation, I feel he deserves the benefit of the doubt. He had to try to push the ball downfield and the DB jumped the route because he knew Dew had no choice...

We had no other turnovers, besides the 2 picks...

Re: On the bright side of the moon (10 reasons)

The point of being a Saints fan is not to watch the team win (though the last few years have been a nice reprieve,) it's about coming together with the rest of the city, forgetting all of the crappy things that happen all week and rooting for some guys that represent our community. I think the worst times to be a Saints fan weren't the 2-14 and 3-13 seasons, but were when the Saints got a bunch of prima donnas that didn't like the city and complained all the time win or lose.
This Saints team is one of the best in our history not just because they have been the most successful, but because they have given so much back to the city, and they are mostly, individually very good people and representatives for us.
That said, we need to fix the damn defense somehow because I can live with a 2-14 season so long as both of those wins come against Atlanta.

PT is by far the best thing we have going in that department. Not a knock on our others, but what a game he was having.

If you were a businessman and an NFL owner you'd want the same advantages the rest get.

As far as loyalty?
Season ticket holder (2 tickets) for 12 years now. Thanks.

So the Saints aren't in san antonio or los angeles...they're here and they aren't playing well...

Let's not get distracted by things that never happened.

I am not questioning anyone's "loyalty"... The fact that we are here means a lot. What i am saying is we should take something into account and context. Its not about loyalty... It is about support.

Do we really want to be like fans in NY or Atlanta that roast their team? The frustration is justified, I am just asking if we are handling it in the most proactive way?

Yep, way too many fans here are as bad or worse than Falcon fans. What a bunch of whiney little twits.

Definite plus that Hartley made the FG from 53 and it looked great. Probably would have been good from 63, great sign.

I want to believe that the offense is really still as good, but we scored 28 points the last 2 games in Garbage Time.

Holding on to the gris gris. Pushing back the bag. Wore my Saints gear to
work today.
