Aqib Talib

I know I'm going to get some bad looks for asking this question but the guy has talent and size something our secondry needs. In our division we have big receivers on every team and we don't have a CB over six foot so I was wondering what you guys thought about bring him to the Saints.

Re: Aqib Talib

It could work, but Payton would have to get a handle on his "issues"

You want get a bad look from me because I like the idea. I know, I know.. troubled history, off the field issues BUT he has ability and the physical tools to be a good addition to our secondary. I liked him in Tampa and also briefly with the Pats.

YES to Talib.

Re: Aqib Talib

I completely agree with the point about the undersized corners, and the Saints need to do something about it or they'll just keep getting burned by big receivers

but from everything I've heard about Talib, I don't know I'd want somebody with those kinds of character issues on the team.

I agree with off the field problems but it takes the right coach to dill with some players and this kid can play I wanted him when he came out of college. I just think it would be a good fit for him and the Saints.

Re: Aqib Talib

I would welcome Talib. As far as his off the field issues....sometimes you gotta take the risk if it means making your team better. There's a locker room full of high character guys that can help keep him on the right path.

But at this point I'd rather take a risk with a guy with character issues than continue to pick high character guys that can't help your team. **** happens in life. Take a chance and see if he can do better.

I think we have a strong enough locker room to do this.

Re: Aqib Talib

i think Payton could handle his character issues. might not be bad, there will be a slew of free agents out there, we just need to clear some cap room.

I don't know about him. He is a good player, no doubt about that but he has way to much rouble foolwing him around.

Re: Aqib Talib

I'm not promising that Talib's issues are behind him, but I do know his impact on the Pats secondary. That playoff game was over the minute he left due to injury. We all in Boston knew it.

I'm kinda doubting an admittedly renegade HC fresh from a year long suspension would be the salvaging influence for Talib's past transgressions. Look at the top for character issues before proclaiming anyone the righteous one. Belichick has taken his spanking also.

Locker room? Talib would be one the leaders on D in NO by default, due to experience and pure talent. The Pats probably have a stronger locker room, yet I've never heard a bad word about Talib up here. Talib himself has to decide if he's ready to mature and be a professional. He himself has to prove that his staying out of trouble wasn't simply due to his contract coming up.

That said....I seriously doubt the Pats let him go, even if they have to diss Welker due to cap constraints. Hell I figure if he's good enough for BB, then he's good enough for the Saints.

agreed he is an impact player for sure. off the field issues? who knows but in boston he seemed to have a different out look.

here is the real issue at hand. money

Re: Aqib Talib

Well the Pats are also rumored to be sniffin around Ed Reed, so the secondary seems to be a priority during the twilight of the Brady/BB era. The #1 O can survive the departing of Welker IMO. We'll see.

BTW: hella blizzard on the way up here.

A slot receiver should be next to kicker on priority needs for the Saints this off season.

True, the only time Welker would see the field is to give Lance a rest.

Yes get him and Darrelle Revis ha ha ha like we could afford that. But yes to Talib. It would be nice to have someone in the secondary who could actually cover.

Re: Aqib Talib

Would welcome him here. Think he came out the same time as Ellis and I wanted us to take himif he was still there. Getting rid of Harper would free up some money . Bring Him here. Getting rid of Ellis also will free up some more. Sure we can get some one better at SS with that money also. We are going to see some welcome changes thias year.

Re: Aqib Talib

Ellis is a free agent, so he isn't even showing on our cap numbers for next year. We are still 14 million over...
