I can add two players to the above list. Vilma is at the top. He could be available, retire, go to either IR or the last choice of just being cut. T. Johnson is next. He's there because of his versatility on the DL. But, I've personally not seen anything from him when he's been healthy. Tanner/Roby are next. Tanner has more upside as a WR but Roby is better at special teams. Coach likes to throw the ball and probably will keep six. All of the WR's except Stills has injuries in their past. Colston hasn't played all preseason. I like IAQ but for whatever reason haven't seen much from him this preseason. Herring could make the squad due his versatility and because of all the injuries. Not a fan but they may be required to keep a slow, white, non-playmaking LB on the roster. LOL. I REALLY like how Warren has played a C this preseason, but I don't know if he can play another position. The staff likes Olsen but he's been injured and I think Lelito has outplayed him. K. Robinson can play RB in the NFL. With Cadet's ability at WR and on special teams, the Saints could keep 5 RB's and only 5 WR's. The recently signed Rolle could be a sleeper over White. I'm not convinced his roster spot is guaranteed. Especially with Vaccaro playing alot in the nickle. I also like what I've seen from CB Lindsey this preseason. He's always around the ball. Overall, since this is just an outside guess, the last 2 I'm going to keep is Johnson and Herring.

What may happen is that all of these bottom of the roster guys may be filled with special teams standouts.

We may find that Parker, Roby, Herring, Bush, IAQ, Carr, Cadet and Robinson all make the 53 in order to help a really bad looking special teams unit.

QB's - I do not see us carrying 3 QBs, never have and probably never will
WR's -We have always carried 6 WR so you can drop a QB and add a WR with out changing the gray areas if the final 2.

Some rationales:

-3 running backs, yes. Do we really need 4? Robinson on the PS if needed. Trade Cadet for a 6/7 round pick if you can.
-4 CBs, but Jenkins doubles as a CB all the time anyway. As above, Sweeting on the PS if needed.
-QBs, I really don't think Griffin would make it through waivers to the PS
-DL, nothing too crazy, Richardson gets a spot because of his versatility
-LB, went back and forth with Herring, decided Humber makes him expendable.
-OL, only keeping 8, something we've done before but 2 on the PS for emergencies

Everyone realizes that 53 players is including the practice squad? We can only dress 46 on game-days, the rest are practice squad players.

53 does not include practice squad. 46 + 7 = 53

53 = Active roster
46 = Can dress out and play
8-9 = Practice squad (Scout team) (9th allowed only if he lives outside of the US)


So we end up with 53+ 8 on the practice squad for a total of 61, the cut off date for the 75 was Tuesday so we are there now... Expect 14 players to be gone by Sat @6pm E. This is why all of preseason ends tonight.

I definitely missed the FB. Sorry Mr. Collins. LOL. My thoughts on Griffin is that he deserves to be on the roster. His value is not great this year, but it will be next year and beyond. The Raiders are horrible, don't have a QB, and saw Griffin first hand during the preseason. I don't think the Saints can slide him by them onto the practice squad. The Saints have mostly always had six WR's on the roster. On gameday they've also only played with 4 active at times. Graham is like a WR. Cadet has the skills and plays special teams. Payton even split PT out in the last preseason game. To me, Tanner and Roby just don't bring enough to deserve a roster spot. They'll keep an extra defensive player over a 6th WR this year in my opinion. Otherwise, it will be Griffin getting cut for that spot.

Technically 22 players have to be cut then if they pass through waivers then you can sign 8 to the PS.
