Re: The Official "Show Harper (and Hartley) Some Love" Thread

I think the 3 safety look will only help Harper, with KV and Jenkins back there with him. I don't think we've seen the last good game by Harper this year in this set-up, as it simply suits his skill set better (great in run support, a big hitter in the secondary that still couldn't cover toast with butter).

Hartley...meh. 22, 31, and 48 yards...inside...at home. On the road, give it up for him on a tone-setting 48 yarder. 22 and 31 yarders are gimme's for a professional kicker. Kickers will miss, I get that. But 3 for 3 at home is his job.

Never had a problem with Harper.

Hartley, on the other hand, I already ate a plate of hot crow on another thread about him. He gets no love until he proves he can be consistent, especially when the pressure is really on.

I agree Mardigras9. I've always been a fan of Harper, and accept his shortcomings. I also ate crow earlier on Hartley, but I still think he's a headcase, and will make me nervous for a long time whenever he attempts a kick.

game ball goes to Hartley and Harper.

Hartley for kicking 3 FGs which was 9 pts, including a long 40+ yarder that if this was last year or 2 years ago, I think he would of missed it. It was key in the fact that the score was 23-17 and not 20-17 which could of gave Atl the chance to tie it up with a FG of their own.

Harper played tight coverage, recovered a fumble, and got an INT, thats the Harper we know from 2009 season when he ran amuck.

I give it to Vaccaro and Brees.

Matt Ryan was a different man after the K-Vac hit and that effected the rest of the entire game.

The INT is on Colston, he let it get stripped from him.

Which is Player of the Week?:D
Hard to decide ebcause both came through at the most important , crucial times. Those were game winning or game losing times.

I will say the 2nd Player of the Week , winner of game ball is Hartley.

1st Player of the Week , winner of Wittnaur watch goes to Harper.

(Remember back when the late Buddy D used to have that for player of the week.)

Hartleys 11 yes 11 points won the game. Harper came through in the clutch and a little help from his friends. Game ball should go to Hartley in my opinion!!

No matter what Hartley does from here on, he made the kick that put us in the Super Bowl - a moment that brought this grown man to tears. I fell down onto the floor, grabbed my dog, and cried like a baby. Then I went outside and barked at the moon - me and my dog. The dog passed away sadly.

It was a moment - one of THOSE moments. We all felt it. It was his kick that did it. Never in the history of sports was a man under as much pressure as he must have been for that kick - short of the gladiators I mean.

No. I could never hate on him. I'll always pull for him. He hit the kick that gave me one of the greatest moments in my life. I love me some Hartley!

I like Roman Harper. I've seen him knock. I've seen him get knocked. But he's down there knockin, and getting back up.

He's nice in interviews, always smiling. He's stronger than you and and can run faster than you, and is better than any other safety we've had for the last 5 or 6 years, which is why he starts. He exercises every day, (unlike you and me,) plays through pain most people would cry from, and he trys very, very hard. He wears a Saints uniform, and seems to like us fans. And he has gray hair like me. Of course I like Roman Harper.

SLAM BAM! This is the answer.
There needs to be more grattitude among us armchair jocks.

I can deal with Hartley's metrosexualness, just like I am acclimating to all them damn tattoos on Vaccaro. He still isnt allowed to date my daughter, but he's impressing me on the field.

Sure, Kenny Vaccaro made an excellent play on the ball and yes, Roman Harper intercepted it and though they were both good plays that gave us the victory...
I was amazed watching three, that's right THREE, of our defensive lineman collapse the pocket and get in Ryan's face. I can't believe what I saw and always have my eyes on that whenever I watch that last play. Three of our guys just shoved them back and it forced Ryan to throw off of his back foot. Great play all round by our defense.
