That's what I was thinking ... with TB's new secondary & Carolina dropping games by less than a score, no game on the NFC South intradivisional schedule is going to be a cakewalk for anyone.

I won't go as far as to say they are going to be as difficult as they were in the past, I will say they are going to be no where predictable.

Last night, Tampon Bay was not any where near good, we just played very sloppy. Should have been a blow out.

Oh, I didn't get to watch the game that much, (thank-you Mother Nature, :)), but from the final score of NO/TB and from what I've seen of Can'tlanta & Carolina, I was thinking pretty much everyone in the NFC South should expect to go 1-1 against division opponents.

We played horrible football, Sean Payton showing rust, Drew having one of "those" games, 3 injuries on D...
I seriously doubt we could have played any worse. I seriously doubt we drop one to TB in the dome.

BTW TB has a d-back that makes Suh look nice, I expect no less than 2 fines to come out of that game. Blatant helmet to helmet spearing.

Dashon Goldson from the 49ers, gave that defense some attitude...

Yep, that's what I'm talking about ... keep score and escalate the fines on one, you gotta' keep score and escalate the fines on all ... the problem is the hits just keep on comin' ... pretty soon, the players will all be playing for free or there won't be enough of 'em left to field a team/league,.

I know this sounds totally goofy but the NFL ought to consider experimenting with a "penalty box" type of situation instead of fines. Where if you get called for a really blatant illegal hit, you get put in an orange padded box and have to spend X amount of defensive snaps on the sideline before you are let back in.

The fines aren't working, because the players earn so much. And I have no hard proof but I really do believe that coaches or teams are covering for some of the fines, either under the table, or in other ways (signing bonus, workout bonus etc).

But if defensive players were forced to immediately come out the game for leading with the helmet or making cheap shot hits, I think it would reduce them considerably. Because then the coaches and fans would get mad at the players, instead of celebrating them, it would give the backup player some time to make his mark, which would harm a first-string player a lot more than a fine, and make him think twice about doing it again. Because these fines they get are basically what he spends at "the club" with his posse on a typical Saturday night.

It could be something like a 10 play ejection or something. But the fines are definitely NOT working the way Goodell intends them to work; like everything else he does, it blows up in his face.

Only when the Falcons loose... twice. :clown:

A coach and a QB away.... That is huge in the NFL.

It only took the Saints 39 years to get those two pieces.
