POLL: Is this team well-run??

Saintfan and I, amongst others, have been having a debate for some time now about the state of this organization. I am of the opinion that this organization is generally poorly run. I think the marketing department is doing a much better job, and Loomis is great at keeping us out of cap trouble, but aside from that, this team is poorly run, from the front-office, to the scouts, to the coaches. It fails at what is most important - creating a winning/consistently competitive team.

Saintfan has been hung up on my use of Kyle Turley's term, "Mickey Mouse." He generally disagrees with my (and others') assesment of the general unprofessionality of this organization. I don't think I'm crazy. Neither does he. So we settle it the old fashion way.

IS THIS TEAM WELL RUN??

Please give a YES or NO answer, and try to keep the commentary SHORT. The main purpose is to take stock in a POLL fashion where you VOTE. So, Rock the Vote! Thanks all.

POLL: Is this team well-run??

Yes, right now its poorly run.
Mickey Mouse is a bit extreme though.

I like Benson. He will fire Haslett after an 8-8 2004.

I kinda like Loomis. We could do better but we could do worse. His problem right now is he needs to fire Haslett or Venturi and I don\'t know if he has the authority to do so. Thats not good. But he\'s a shrewd bean-counter.

Rick is decent. The team is talented.

On a 1-10 scale I\'d give them a 6. Thats strickly based on the talent this team has accrued and the cap space still available for the next coaching staff.

The on-field staff is whats bringing this team down.

Negative Ghostrider.

A total inability to utilize free agency to effect.
Haphazard record of developing talent.
Inability to get results on stated goals, ie--We want to get tougher against the run.

POLL: Is this team well-run??

No, and a resounding no to that!

This team, perenially a badly manged and coached team, has done nothing to aid our main problems in both player and front office personnel.

The player \"talent\" is there, but the coaches have failed to exploit those advantages. And in fact, the reason our defense is so weak is the fact that the coaches decided to base it around speed alone. So what does that translate into? Undersized linemen who get pushed around easily and LB\'s who drop into coverage more than walking up to blitz.

Take Courtney Watson for example. Watson\'s fast and light on his feet. But the problem lies in the fact that he\'s not strong enough to take on blocks or make sound tackles against stronger \"bruiser\" running backs. This results in Watson having to chase and pursue instead of stopping at the line.

Saints coaches have become incredibly stubborn about this \"speed defense.\" They alone have taken away the defensive players who, in their view, were too slow for the new \"speed defense\" (i.e. Norman Hand, Sammy Knight, Charlie Clemons, and Mark Fields). And who do they replace them with? Faster players who don\'t play the same hard-hitting smash-mouth style of the Saints D of old. The faster players don\'t tackle as soundly or hit as hard.

While I do give credit to Loomis for keeping the cap under control, he hasn\'t done enough to bring in impact players on both sides of the ball to make us an even more effective team. So now we have to chase around a holdout CB in Green Bay instead of trying to sign one during the free agency period.

Not wanting to change the player lineup so that they can all get along better and can have time to bond? Yeah, we\'ve really gotten far on that one! Still no true team leader and still no sense of togetherness.

The Saints still look like 53 different men playing for a paycheck, not for each other.

Benson, you alone have the power to turn this franchise around. But, based on your actions since the mid 90\'s, I can\'t count on you to do much either. :burning:

When it comes to discussing Saints losses, Jack Daniels can be a great listener.
